POSITION:                         Business Analyst

DEPARTMENT:                 Treasury

LOCATION:                        Houston, Texas

Essential Functions:

The Business Analyst will provide critical business support and be a key business partner to the commercial organization playing a key role in developing the company’s annual plan and quarterly guidance. This position will report to the Director of Financial Planning and have visibility to senior management.

Analyst duties include, but are not limited to:

• Work with various stakeholders to develop detailed forecasts that incorporate all commercial agreements, macro-outlook and key business assumptions. 
• Proactive and timely reconciliation of monthly variances and presentation of findings, analysis and market views, in a clear, concise and meaningful manner to commercial leaders and senior management.
• Generate reports to summarize key financial and operational metrics by asset and business unit, inclusive of pipeline, terminal and marketing businesses. Responsible for gathering input and drafting PowerPoint presentations to support strategic decision making.
• Develop financial analysis to communicate drivers of business performance. Analysis supports Corporate Planning & Reporting and Investor Relations functions. 
• Work with Scheduling and Accounting groups to ensure accurate billing and forecasting of commercial agreements, including minimum volume commitments, acreage dedications, lease gathering and long-haul contracts. Resolve issues as needed.
  Assist commercial organization in other ad hoc analysis and work including investment analysis, acquisition support and other strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in business analysis and/or crude oil accounting.
• Must have advanced Excel skills as well as strong analytical and communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented and adhere to strict deadlines for all work products.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, multi-task and change direction in a variety of workplace situations. #Plains
