About this Associate Manager, Social Media role at OUAI

OUAI · Onsite · Los Angeles, California, United States

OUAI is a prestige beauty and personal care brand founded by celebrity hairstylist, Jen Atkin. “OUAI,” means “yes” in that casual Parisian way. The brand is guided by the mission “wherever you go, go all the OUAI” and this bold & playful spirit impacts everything from culture to marketing to product. OUAI’s product categories – ranging from hair care to body care, fragrances, personal care, and merch – are designed to reflect its commitment to easy, effective, and enjoyable self-care.

Since its launch, OUAI has built a strong and growing omnichannel presence through direct-to-consumer channels, specialty beauty retailers, and global distribution partners. The brand continues to expand into new markets, deepen consumer loyalty, and scale its differentiated, high-margin business model internationally. OUAI is recognized for its straightforward approach to beauty, its distinctive fragrance profile, and its ability to meet consumer needs across multiple lifestyle-driven categories. The brand formulates without sulfates or parabens and maintains a commitment to creating high-quality, effective products.

OUAI’s culture is shaped by its ethos—fun, purposeful, and approachable—and is anchored by five Culture Codes:

1. We Aren’t Afraid to Go First.

2. We Don’t Compete, We Collaborate.

3. We Ask Questions to Find the Best Answers.

4. We Keep It Real, in a OUAI That’s Kind.

5. We Go All the OUAI With Work & Play.

OUAI is focused on ongoing category innovation, continued international expansion, and delivering high-quality consumer experiences that reinforce the brand’s identity and long-term growth trajectory.

About the role:

We’re looking for a strategic and creative Associate Social Media Manager to help bring OUAI’s brand voice and personality to life. You’ll - you guessed it - manage our social media platforms, but you’ll also help shape and execute our social strategy, have a hand in content creation, and pitch best-in-class ideas. You’re in tune with the social media landscape, love trends but never chase them, have a great eye, and love storytelling. In this role, you’ll build awareness and brand love, reporting to the Director of Social Media and collaborating with the greater marketing team and cross-functional partners.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the social media editorial calendar and build out social programming in line with product launches, campaigns, and business priorities
  • Schedule and publish posts across all social media channels
  • Pitch and execute social-forward concepts, especially for Instagram and TikTok, that align with the cross-functional calendar and campaign messaging
  • Lead ideation, planning, and content capture for dedicated social shoots, while identifying and capturing BTS opportunities on larger campaign productions
  • Identify storytelling opportunities within pop culture, community, product education, and beyond, and translate them into engaging social posts
  • Reflect brand tone and voice across all social touchpoints, in both captions and content
  • Pull data for monthly and quarterly social reporting, analyzing performance to identify key learnings, actionable insights, and recommendations for future content
  • Collaborate on social campaign recaps and use findings to tailor go-forward strategies
  • Work closely with the Community Management Coordinator to surface talent for potential collaborations and influencer partnerships, curate UGC, and identify surprise-and-delight opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Influencer & Communications team to generate effective paid and organic influencer content for use across owned and retail channels
  • Develop clear and compelling social-first creative briefs for content production and external partners
  • Stay up to date on social media trends, platform updates, and algorithm changes, monitor competitive sets, pull swipe, and conduct image/video research
  • Handle content preparation, including pulling high-res files and light in-app video editing
  • Collaborate with marketing and retail teams to ensure brand moments and partner exclusives are amplified on social channels in a cohesive and intentional way
  • Manage social projects from ideation to execution, staying ahead of timelines and key dates
  • Help execute social community events that build brand love and fuel advocacy aligned to brand, product, + campaign objectives
  • Occasionally post on weekends (approx. 30 min/day)

Requirements

What you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years of social media experience, ideally at a beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brand
  • A strong creative point of view and demonstrated ability to develop engaging, social-first content
  • Excellent copywriting skills and the ability to bring a distinct brand voice to life across platforms
  • Strong understanding of social analytics, with the ability to interpret performance and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and proactively communicate progress and roadblocks
  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate, polished work with minimal oversight
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and confidence working with external partners
  • Deep familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, emerging social trends, and platform best practices
  • Familiarity with social media management and asset management tools, such as Sprout, Dash, or similar platforms
  • Reliability, resourcefulness, and a strong sense of urgency, with an understanding that social media is at the frontlines of consumer communication
  • Work samples demonstrating creative development, social execution, and individual contributions
  • A love of beauty, haircare, and/or fragrance
  • “We go all the OUAI with work and play” - this speaks to the passion behind the work that we do, with the knowledge that developing entertaining & engaging content for social just so happens to be a ton of fun.

Benefits
