This is a contract role until the end of May 2027.

The Associate, Collateral Management is responsible for all collateral management functions across all business lines.  Collateral management is an essential function that supports investment strategies by ensuring required collateral is held at approved brokers in accordance with industry standards and agreements. Under the guidance of the Manager, Collateral Management, the Associate will be responsible for determining and executing the appropriate collateral movements to minimize counterparty credit risk, ensuring timely settlement of collateral, and preparing daily collateral reports for internal groups.

The Associate will work with fellow members of the Cash Management & Treasury team, as well as collaborating with Investments and other internal stakeholders on project deliverables and initiatives.  The role reports to the Manager, Collateral Management.

Key Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the Manager, Collateral Management, this position is responsible for determining and executing the appropriate collateral movements to minimize counterparty credit risk, ensuring timely settlement of collateral, and preparing daily collateral reports for internal groups. This position will work closely with internal (Investment Risk and Investment Finance) and external (banks, brokers, and custodians) stakeholders. Errors in judgment could have an impact on client’s assets and rates of return.


Specific responsibilities/accountabilities include:

  • Prepare daily collateral reports to internal stakeholders (e.g., Investments, Risk)

  • Monitor daily margin requirements for Exchange Traded Derivatives , OTC Derivatives and Repos

  • Process all cash and non-cash collateral within a timely matter and ensure trades are settled within market timelines

  • Monitor available collateral inventory to ensure sufficient liquidity

  • Prepare credit facilities and letter of credits request from Investments teams to ensure timely settlement and resolving any issues that may arise

  • Process any corporate actions and fees as required

  • Evaluate and identifying opportunities for improvement relating to mitigating operational risk

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Investments, Investment Finance) on projects (Regulatory Initial Margin) 

  • Maintain external relationships with various banks, custodians, and brokers.

  • Mentor and training of new or junior team members

What you need to succeed:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in financial industry preferable Capital Markets

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent

  • Knowledge of Capital Market products, trade systems and business lines

  • CSC, CAIA, CFA or any investment designations would be an asset

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and to effectively deal with internal and external clients and vendors

  • Superior analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills are required to identify and recommend potential opportunities, coordinating and maintaining up to date information on returns and risks.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficient with MS Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and 3rd party banking applications

  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to a rapidly changing environment and sustain high productivity levels

The base salary range for this position is CAD $70,000.00 - $100,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers.
