Job Description Summary

The University of Maryland, College Park Department of History, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in 20th century U.S. women/gender history. Applicants must demonstrate a broad knowledge of U.S. women’s history. Research specialization open, but projects complementing departmental strengths will be prioritized. In addition to exceptional scholarly promise, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching.
Responsibilities include teaching a general U.S. women’s history survey (modern era 1880-2000), other lecture courses, and upper-level undergraduate and graduate seminars as they align with the candidate’s interests and departmental requirements, as well as engaging in curriculum development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Ph.D. in History or a related field is required in hand by August 1, 2027
Experience: Teaching experience at the college or university level is required.

Physical Demands:
Sit for extended periods; frequent computer/keyboard use; occasional standing/walking between office and classrooms; occasional lifting of books/materials up to 10–15 lbs.
Stand and/or move around a classroom for class periods; write on boards and/or use instructional technology.
