Job description:
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
· Assist the surveyor with all field surveying activities
· Carry out routine survey measurements using approved survey equipment
· Ensure survey control is consistent with approved project coordinate systems and datums
· Ensure survey equipment is properly handled, maintained and stored
· Assist with setting out of construction limits, toes, crests, slopes, boundaries and alignments
· Mark survey points and ensure accurate placement of pegs, stakes, and reference markers
· Assist with verifying completed lift levels and geometry
· Collect survey data required for quantity measurements, cut and fill volumes
· Report any unusual movement, safety concerns or survey discrepancies to the TSF Surveyor
· Attend construction meetings and progress reviews
Qualifications
- Full grade twelve (12) certificate
- Certificate or Diploma in surveying, geomatics engineering or a closely related discipline
- Professional registration with recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB)

- Understanding of surveying principles and practices
- Basic knowledge of earthworks and construction
- Ability to read engineering drawings and surveys
- Basic survey equipment operation
- Basic data management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good mathematical and analytical skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work outdoors in challenging environmental conditions
Experience
- 1 to 3 years’ experience of relevant construction/mining surveying
- Relevant practical field surveying experience
- Exposure to TSF, earthworks or mining projects is advantageous
