About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) Asia Data Project. This role will work closely with GWAM stakeholders in Canada and regional teams across Asia to build scalable data solutions, deliver strategic data products, and establish trusted data foundations for business and analytics initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who combines strong Data Engineering expertise with Data Modelling capabilities and enjoys working in a global, collaborative environment. You will play a key role in shaping the data foundation for GWAM Asia while partnering with stakeholders across Asia and Canada.

Excellent written and spoken English is required, as this role works extensively with business and technology teams in Canada and across Asia.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build data products, contributing to the advancement of the overall data product strategy.

• Design and maintain robust data models, including conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional models.

• Integrate data from multiple source systems into enterprise data platforms and data products.

• Design, develop, and support enterprise-scale data pipelines and integrations.

• Build ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Spark, Python, and SQL.

• Conduct proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new integration patterns, technologies, and data solutions.

• Maintain and support the Enterprise Data Lake (EDL), ensuring platform stability, reliability, and operational excellence.

• Monitor platform and application performance, recommend infrastructure improvements, and perform code optimization where required.

• Investigate incidents, support change requests, and drive continuous platform improvements.

• Produce and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and operational runbooks.

• Perform unit testing, system integration testing, and deployment validation.

• Support Agile delivery teams through design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Collaborate with business, technology, and data stakeholders across Asia and Canada.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, DevOps Engineering, or related technical roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Platform technologies, including:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
  • Event Hubs
  • Spark / PySpark
  • Python
  • SQL / Databricks SQL Warehouse
• Experience with database development and management (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB).
• Strong data modelling experience, including conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional modelling for enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Experience designing scalable cloud-based data solutions and enterprise data platforms.
• Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) technologies (e.g., Debezium), streaming technologies, and enterprise data lake architectures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, wealth management, insurance, or asset management.
• Knowledge of data governance, master data management, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.

• Understanding of data product concepts, including data domains, reusable data assets, data ownership, data contracts, and business-facing data consumption.

• Experience with AI, Business Intelligence (BI), and/or Generative AI solutions.
• Experience working with global or distributed teams across multiple regions.

Communication Requirements

• Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders in Canada and across Asia.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working in a global, distributed, and multicultural environment.
