Applied Data Science 

Our Applied Data Science team turns dunnhumby's analytical capability into real commercial impact for our clients. Working directly with retailers and brands, we design and deliver the models, algorithms and insights that answer the hardest questions in retail - from personalisation and basket analysis to pricing, promotions and customer loyalty. Every insight we produce is grounded in real customer data and built to make a measurable difference. 

About the Role 

We are building applied data science capability to support a potential new client partnership in Canada. This role will shape the analytics workplan, lead delivery and connect advanced data science to commercial decisions. 

What You'll Be Doing 

• You will lead applied data science delivery, helping the team turn complex business questions into compelling client action and scalable analytical solutions. 
• Develop the annual client workplan with Client Leads so it aligns to business needs and strategy. 
• Manage and allocate resources to support productivity, timely delivery and measurable results. 
• Lead the team in turning complex problems into clear insights and recommendations. 
• Participate in client meetings to present methodology, influence decisions and grow engagement. 
• Hire, mentor and retain a strong team while maintaining quality assurance, coding standards and reusable science solutions. 

What We're Looking For 

• You'll bring technical depth, people leadership and the ability to connect data science methods directly to client value. 
• Experience leading applied data science teams in client-facing environments. 
• Strong modelling capability and practical experience with tools such as Hadoop, Spark, SQL and Python. 
• Ability to connect advanced analytics to customer experience and measurable business outcomes. 
• Confidence presenting methods and solutions to senior stakeholders. 
• A track record of building teams, managing delivery and creating scalable, reusable solutions.
