About the role

The Admin Support Volunteer will support the Derby City Life Links team with the day-to-day running of the service. This is a great opportunity for someone who is empathetic, open-minded and enjoys helping others, while developing their confidence, communication and administrative skills.

You’ll gain experience in handling enquiries, referral pathways and processes, maintaining accurate records and providing information and navigation support to people accessing the service.

Key duties

  • Respond to enquiries and emails received by the service.
  • Handle calls to the Information Line from individuals seeking support and professionals making referrals.
  • Process referrals accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records and data sheets.
  • Contact people referred to the service by phone and email.
  • Provide general information, advice and navigation support by phone or face to face.
  • Support the team with the day-to-day running of the Information Line.
  • Promote and signpost activities and resources available within the wider community.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is confident, professional and committed, with a genuine interest in helping others. You’ll be comfortable communicating with people by phone and email and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Confident IT skills and good written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and keep track of progress.
  • A non-judgmental approach towards people with lived experience.
  • Good timekeeping and reliability.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, as part of a team and when following instruction.
  • A professional, honest and committed approach.
  • An understanding of Waythrough and its work.
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries, follow policies and guidelines, engage in supervision and complete relevant training.
