The Opportunity:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys balancing financial control, reporting excellence, and continuous process improvement.
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting statutory and group reporting requirements, and ensuring the integrity of our financial processes. Acting as a bridge between the Financial Accountant and Assistant Accountants, you'll provide guidance and support to colleagues while helping drive consistency and efficiency across the wider finance function.
The role will involve:
- Taking ownership of key month-end accounting processes and ensuring delivery against financial reporting deadlines.
- Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, reviewing postings, analysing financial data, and supporting balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and twice-yearly group reporting requirements.
- Investigating accounting discrepancies, resolving issues, and posting corrective entries where required.
- Preparing cashflow forecasts and supporting payment processes, including acting as cover for the AP Supervisor.
- Preparing VAT returns, supporting year-end audits, and identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.

You will be an organised and analytical finance professional who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. You should enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and collaborating with colleagues across the business to achieve the best outcomes.
You'll ideally bring:
- AAT Level 4 qualification.
- Strong financial reporting, reconciliation, and analytical skills.
- Experience supporting audits, statutory accounts, or group reporting activities.
- A thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and governance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to support and mentor colleagues.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
The Interview Process:
- Screening video call via Microsoft Teams with a member of the Talent Acquisition team.
- Personality questionnaire.
- One-stage interview via Microsoft Teams or in person with the Line Manager/Hiring Manager and People Advisor. This will include competency-based questions.
