Summary: Develop, coordinate, and implement all sales functions associated with selling thermoplastic materials (neat Polypropylene and Polyethylene) within the TX/OK/LA/AR territory.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop sales strategies and action plans for identified targets of opportunity.
  • Secure orders from existing and potential customers by visiting customer facility and contacting by phone.
  • Obtain product specifications and secure opportunities to quote on customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Credit Manager to facilitate initial credit and to collect receivables.
  • Follow up (by phone or visit) on quotations submitted to customers.
  • Establish professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate customer personnel (Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Management, other key personnel).
  • Place customer orders and sample requests with Customer Service.
  • Assist Product Development staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs.
  • Provide timely response to customer inquiries, problems and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform all assigned duties in the assigned sales territory.

 

Preferred Experience, Training, and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of technical marketing, engineering, or sales experience within the plastics industry.
  • Outside sales experience within the resin industry and/or product development experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable, well organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business and achieve profitable sales in highly competitive markets.
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites and other Southern Polymer required travel.

 

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Engineering, or equivalent. 

 

Working Conditions, Travel, and Physical Requirements:

  • Field-based travel and home office environment.  Ideal candidate will be located in the Houston or Dallas metropolitan areas.
  • Domestic travel up to 70%.
