Worldwide-Remote Salary Report: What Remote Roles Pay Now
A new analysis of 42 worldwide-remote salaries shows a median of $94,500, with tech and security roles commanding $150,000+. Here's what to ask for.
The Median Remote Salary: $94,500
If you're shopping for a worldwide-remote job right now, expect the middle of the market to land around $94,500 USD. That's the median across 42 salary reports collected from active worldwide-remote listings on JobsRadar. The middle 50 percent of earners fall between $70,000 and $153,750, which gives you a real sense of the range most job seekers will encounter.
The highest-paid worldwide-remote role in the dataset sits at $416,000, though such outliers are rare. The point: if you're targeting truly global remote work, $70,000 to $155,000 is the realistic ballpark for most skilled roles.
Tech Dominates: Software Engineering Pays the Most
The salary gap between fields is substantial. Software and Web Engineering leads by a wide margin, with a median of $165,000 across 7,094 roles. That's 75 percent higher than the overall worldwide-remote median.
Close behind are Security roles at $159,690 (727 roles) and Programming Languages and Frameworks at $154,300 (377 roles). These three fields consistently command six-figure salaries in the worldwide-remote market.
Six Fields, All Above $150,000
Beyond software engineering, five other disciplines show medians north of $150,000:
- Design and Creative: $152,750 (455 roles)
- Data, AI and Analytics: $152,500 (2,063 roles)
- DevOps, Cloud and Infrastructure: $151,800 (1,818 roles)
If you work in any of these areas, you have leverage. The data shows consistent demand and premium pricing across all six specialties. The largest sample size is Software and Web Engineering, suggesting the deepest job market and the most mature salary range.
What This Means for Your Job Search
Use these numbers to calibrate your expectations and your asks. If you're a software engineer, $165,000 is your median baseline. If you're in data or analytics, $152,500 is reasonable. Anything below the field median warrants pushback.
The $70,000 to $155,000 range reflects the spread across all remote roles - many generalist positions, support roles, and emerging-market opportunities sit below the six-figure bands. If you're entering a new field or accepting your first remote role, the lower quartile is realistic. If you have 5+ years in tech, aim for the median or above.
