Role Description
The People Systems Senior Analyst (Workday) is responsible for the configuration, support, and continuous improvement of Workday solutions, with deep functional and technical expertise across a defined set of Workday modules (typically 2–3 SKUs such as Core HCM, Compensation, Time & Absence, Talent Management, or Recruiting).
This role operates as a subject matter expert within their specialist areas, owning configuration, enhancements, and issue resolution, while contributing to the stability, scalability, and optimisation of the wider Workday ecosystem.
The Senior Analyst will lead smaller system initiatives and support larger transformation programmes led by the Workday People Systems Lead, ensuring solutions are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business requirements. Over time, the role is expected to broaden expertise across additional Workday modules over time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Systems Configuration & Technical Delivery
Own the configuration, testing, and optimisation of assigned Workday modules (2–3 SKUs, including areas such as Reward, Time & Absence and Talent Management).
Build and maintain business process frameworks, condition rules, calculated fields, and configurations within their specialist areas.
Deliver system changes using structured release management and testing approaches.
Support tenant and release management activities including testing cycles, validation, and defect resolution.
Ensure data accuracy, system performance, and adherence to governance and security standards.
2. Functional Expertise & Continuous Improvement
Act as a subject matter expert for assigned Workday modules.
Translate business requirements into efficient and scalable system solutions within their domain.
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, reducing manual intervention.
Maintain system documentation and ensure configuration changes are clearly documented and controlled.
3. Systems Development & Integration Support
Support the build, testing, and deployment of integrations using Workday tools (e.g. EIBs, Core Connectors).
Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors to ensure effective system integration and data flow.
Support validation activities during Workday releases and ensure updates are tested and adopted.
4. Data, Reporting & Analytics Support
Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards (standard and custom).
Ensure data integrity and support data governance practices within their modules.
Partner with People Analytics teams to support reporting and data extraction requirements.
5. Stakeholder & Project Delivery Support
Support with HR, Centres of Excellence, and business stakeholders to support system usage and enhancements.
Lead smaller Workday projects or workstreams, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
Provide guidance and support to junior analysts and administrators.
Contribute to training materials and user guidance to improve adoption and user experience.
Experience required
Strong Workday configuration and administration experience across at least 2 SKUs (e.g. Core HCM, Compensation, Time & Absence, Talent Management, Recruiting).
Proven experience delivering Workday enhancements, configuration changes, and smaller-scale implementations.
Good understanding of Workday business processes, calculated fields, and security concepts.
Hands-on experience with Workday tools such as EIBs and Report Writer; exposure to integrations is desirable.
Experience working within structured release cycles and testing frameworks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot system issues.
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
Workday certification in relevant modules is desirable.
