Are you an energized newshound looking to push the boundaries on digital platforms? Are you a collaborative team player who wants to work in a newsroom that leads the daily agenda in the city and tells stories that matter to the local audience?

CBC Windsor is looking for an experienced reporter-editor to join our news team to help elevate stories on digital and social platforms. We’re looking for a creative journalist who can analyze a broad range of issues in a fast paced multi-platform environment.

You must be a person who knows how to write quickly, package and edit digital news and current affairs content, including for visual platforms. You are comfortable chasing your own original stories, as well as working with material gathered by your colleagues. You are always thinking about the best way to present a story so that it reaches as many people as possible. You’re innovative and you will try new things, including story treatments and workflows. You like to look at data and you’re always asking what the audience needs from CBC Windsor’s reporting.

You ensure that your work highlights a broad range of perspectives, experiences and points of view, especially from those people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. You make a point of meeting new people, engaging in the community, and updating your contacts. You will be certain that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.

Does this sound like you? Submit your CV and a cover letter, and any relevant portfolio work.

  • University degree in journalism or equivalent with a minimum of three years of recent, related experience.

  • Sound news judgment and a proven track record of reacting quickly to breaking news and changing priorities, and chasing multiple stories at once.

  • Experience reporting live and breaking news

  • A proven work ethic, strong communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude.
