POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for a Warehouse Manager to support the Detroit Refinery, located in Detroit, MI. The successful individual will report to the Supply Chain Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises Warehouse Supervisors and/or Warehouse Technicians in performance of their duties, ensuring the expected standards of job performance, discipline, and safety are met.
• Provides coaching to employees; participates in performance management discussions and in the selection process for staffing future open positions.
• Provides oversight in the execution of daily warehouse operations, including goods receipts, goods issues, picklists, staging, kitting, cycle counting, stock put away, logistics, delivery, and quality control/assurance, utilizing the most appropriate material handling and storage methods and equipment.
• Ensures MRO and capital project inventory is stored securely, accurately identified, protected from damage or deterioration, and accessible when needed to support safe and reliable refinery operations.
• Oversees the timely and accurate picking, staging, kitting, and delivery of materials for maintenance, operations, turnarounds, and capital projects; coordinates priorities and readiness with end users and project teams.
• Establishes and maintains controls for inventory custody and movement, including receiving, storage, transfers, issuance, returns, and delivery, to support traceability, physical security, and inventory accuracy.
• Establishes warehouse strategies and organizational goals; develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs); and utilizes root cause analysis to improve performance. Develops short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimization of warehousing functions and inventory; engages the workforce in continuous improvement efforts; and strives to achieve best-in-class status.
• Supports warehouse staff in the timely fulfillment of daily and weekly material requirements and plans for longer-term requirements.
• Collaborates with the Inventory Controller for material master data maintenance; Materials Requirement Planning (MRP); cycle counting; obsolete and surplus material management; repairs and refurbishments; and reporting.
• Establishes and maintains effective methods of communication and robust, sustainable relationships with internal clients and suppliers. Proactively understands organizational needs and aligns material management strategies with business partner goals.
• Establishes processes to ensure adequate control of materials transportation and other activities, including manual and computerized systems.
• Maintains warehouse facilities, storage systems, and material handling equipment in safe and reliable operating condition; identifies and addresses conditions that could affect personnel safety, inventory integrity, or service to the refinery.
• Maintains high health, environmental, and safety (HES) standards. Leads and participates in activities supporting HES performance commitments.
• Ensures company personnel and contractors comply with all required Marathon policies, procedures, and guidance, as well as industry and legislative requirements regarding logistics activities.
• Provides guidance, support, training, and development to warehouse staff.
• Coordinates with the department director in developing the warehouse budget and maintains financial discipline to meet the budget.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5) or more years’ warehousing or business relevant experience required.
