The job
Build and evolve a differentiated product and technology portfolio for AVEVA China, combining a deep understanding of the local market and technology landscape with AVEVA’s global platforms, engineering capabilities and scale. We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and execution-focused Leader to establish and lead AVEVA’s China product organization that includes portfolio management, software R&D and AI Innovation capabilities, for a set of industrial software products developed for the China market. This is a senior leadership role with execution responsibility for AVEVA’s China for China strategy, portfolio performance, customer and market alignment, and the predictable delivery of secure, high-quality software outcomes. The leader will report directly to the VP of China, to build and scale high-performing local Product Management and R&D teams and serve as the voice of the China market within AVEVA’s global product organization, to ensure alignment with global platforms, architecture, governance, and standards.
Key responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Planning: Define and maintain the China-specific product portfolio strategy in alignment with global objectives. Identify market opportunities and translate them into actionable product plans.
Research & Development Set the technology direction for the China market, working closely with R&D leadership. Own the development of market-relevant software capabilities in line with AVEVA’s global R&D processes, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, performance, and effective management of dependencies on global platforms and shared services.
AI Innovation: Establish a team of dedicated AI specialists to identify, incubate, and help scale China-market AI capabilities in collaboration with our portfolio and R&D teams. Translate emerging AI technologies into differentiated product capabilities and measurable customer value.
Cross Functional Leadership & Site set-up: Lead the operational setup of the China R&D center, including infrastructure, tools, and local compliance in collaboration with HR, IT, and Legal. Establish ways of working (governance, release cadence, quality standards, metrics), in alignment with AVEVA global processes.
Market & Customer Insight: Serve as the voice of the China market within the global portfolio organization. Gather and synthesize customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and regulatory insights to inform product direction.
Go-to-Market & Commercial Partnership: Partner with China and global commercial leadership on packaging, pricing inputs, launch plans, field enablement, and customer success motions; support strategic deals and executive customer engagements.
Cross-Regional Stakeholder Leadership: Influence and align senior global stakeholders across Product Management, R&D, Security, Legal, and Commercial functions; operate effectively across time zones and cultures.
Talent Strategy & Development: Build, lead, and mentor directors/managers across Product Management and R&D; define org design, hiring plans, leadership development, succession planning, and a high-performance, inclusive culture.
Risk, Compliance & Security Leadership: Ensure products and processes meet applicable local requirements and AVEVA policies; partner with Legal and Security to manage risk appropriately; ensure Chinese developed products maintain quality and security standards consistent with our global processes and standards
Essential requirements
15+ years of experience in enterprise software, with significant senior leadership experience spanning both Product Management and Software R&D (e.g., owning a product line/portfolio with end-to-end accountability for roadmap and delivery)
Proven track record establishing and scaling organizations (Product Management and R&D) in China, ideally within a multinational, matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability to define product/portfolio strategy from market and customer insight, translate it into roadmaps and investment decisions, and deliver measurable outcomes
Strong understanding of modern software development practices, hybrid/cloud architectures, and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) principles
Experience with industrial software markets (HMI SCADA, Engineering Design etc) and customers in China; familiarity with China-specific localization needs and market dynamics
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive influence across regions and functions
Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field).
Desired skills
Experience working with China ecosystem partners (SIs, OEMs, cloud providers) and building partner-enabled delivery or distribution models
Experience defining and running outcome-based product operating models (OKRs, experimentation, telemetry/analytics-driven product management)
Experience managing multiple concurrent product lines and complex dependency networks across global platforms.
