This role offers you the opportunity to work with a globally respected financial institution renowned for its commitment to regulatory excellence and collaborative culture. You will be at the heart of end-to-end delivery for FIs and Non-Bank Financial Institutions, including complex fund structures, providing subject matter expertise and driving process improvements in line with both global and local standards.

  • Join MUFG’s Hong Kong office as the central point person for FI and NBFI onboarding, coordinating priorities and service outcomes to support timely revenue generation.
  • Leverage your advanced KYC/AML expertise to provide guidance on complex cases, drive process improvements, and translate regulatory developments into practical procedures.
  • Enjoy a collaborative workplace where you guide onshore and offshore teams, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to continuous improvement without formal people-management responsibility.

What you'll do:

As Vice President, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the onboarding process for Financial Institutions (FIs) and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs), including funds with intricate structures. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve acting as the central point person for onboarding activities including coordinating priorities among stakeholders to ensure timely time-to-revenue while maintaining compliance with global and local regulatory standards.

  • Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for Financial Institutions and Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Hong Kong, ensuring seamless delivery across multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for complex, high-risk cases such as PEPs, high-risk jurisdictions, layered ownership structures, and funds with GP/LP arrangements.
  • Translate evolving regulatory requirements and policy changes into actionable procedures, controls, and working guidance for teams.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardisation, and effective use of management information across both onshore and offshore delivery channels.
  • Prepare clear reporting on volumes, ageing, quality metrics, risks, issues, and remediation actions for management and governance forums.
  • Support efficient resource utilisation by highlighting demand trends, capacity constraints, delivery risks, and opportunities to reduce operational costs.
  • Coordinate client outreach expectations and document collection using reliable public sources to minimise repeat requests and enhance customer experience.
  • Serve as the primary coordination contact for internal stakeholders regarding FI onboarding matters in Hong Kong, balancing business objectives with KYC policy requirements.
  • Facilitate timely issue resolution by connecting relevant Front Office, KYC, Financial Crime Compliance, Legal, Operations, and FIEDD stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility of end-to-end onboarding through centralised trackers, quality controls, action logs, root-cause analysis of quality issues, audit findings, control gaps and follow-up corrective actions.

What you bring:

Your proven experience as Vice President Know Your Customer will be instrumental in delivering success at MUFG.

  • 7-10 years’ experience ensuring your advanced knowledge of KYC/AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing requirements specifically tailored for Financial Institutions (FIs) and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs), including complex ownership structures.
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent professional experience demonstrating your academic foundation in finance or compliance-related fields.
  • Strong coordination skills enabling you to manage priorities effectively across multiple workstreams while tracking progress against targets.
  • Excellent judgement capabilities allowing you to resolve cross-functional issues efficiently and escalate concerns appropriately when necessary.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills facilitating constructive collaboration between internal teams such as Front Office staff, Legal advisors or Compliance professionals.
  • Ability to influence outcomes positively by providing practical guidance even without formal line-management authority.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills supporting clear management reporting as well as change delivery initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint enabling you to prepare detailed reports or presentations for governance forums.
  • Relevant AML/KYC or compliance qualification preferred reflecting your commitment to ongoing professional development within the industry.
  • Strong understanding of applicable global standards alongside local regulatory requirements ensuring adherence to best practices.
