Finding the right place to grow your career isn’t (over) easy, so we’re here to help by sharing a few reasons why the grass is greener at Vital Farms. We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we’re proud of the diverse communities we serve and the stakeholders who help bring our purpose to life. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where every crew member feels valued. We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.

Your Role:

As Vice President of Finance, Head of FP&A, you will build and lead the financial planning and analysis function that gives Vital Farms an accurate, forward-looking view of performance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll convert strategy into executable financial plans, help every function operate within approved budgets, and enable timely, stakeholder-conscious decisions that support durable profitability and responsible growth. This is a hands-on player/coach role: you'll set direction and develop your team while staying close enough to the work to inspect models, pressure-test assumptions, and personally unblock critical analyses.

What You'll Do:

Lead enterprise planning and forecasting:

  • Develop and lead an integrated, driver-based annual operating plan, long-range plan, and latest-estimate process aligned with company strategy.
  • Connect demand, supply, pricing, trade, mix, cost, capacity, working capital, capital spending, and financing into clear scenarios and recommendations.
  • Improve forecast quality by establishing transparent assumptions, risks and opportunities, scenario ranges, and accountable actions.

Create an integrated performance-management system:

  • Bring KPI scorecards, business reviews, forecasts, functional P&Ls, Board reporting, and action tracking together around consistent data and definitions.
  • Provide concise, accurate reporting and variance analysis that clearly explains what happened, why it happened, what may happen next, and what decisions are required.
  • Partner with leaders across the company to establish clear financial priorities, decision rights, operating rhythms, and ownership.

Strengthen decision support and financial stewardship:

  • Build practical decision frameworks for pricing, trade, customer and channel profitability, portfolio choices, demand and supply balancing, cost programs, capital investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain clear enterprise views of revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash, liquidity, and major business drivers; identify risks and performance leakage early.
  • Balance near-term financial outcomes with the long-term health of farmers, Crew members, customers, consumers, communities, animals, and shareholders.

Partner across the enterprise:

  • Build trusted relationships with Sales, Marketing, Egg Production, Supply Chain, Operations, Strategy, Accounting, IT, Investor Relations, People, and executive leadership.
  • Present clear, decision-oriented analyses and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Translate complex financial and operational information into practical choices for financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Build scalable capabilities and a high-performing team:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the FP&A team while setting clear priorities, accountability, and sustainable operating expectations.
  • Partner with IT and Accounting to improve finance data architecture, automate recurring reporting and forecasting, strengthen controls, and expand self-service insights.
  • Remain close enough to the work to inspect models, pressure-test assumptions, solve day-to-day problems, and personally unblock critical analyses.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred but not required.
  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant FP&A leadership responsibility.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20% based on business needs.
  • Public-company fluency, including executive and Board reporting, SEC/GAAP awareness, and investor- or lender-facing support.
  • Experience in CPG, retail, hospitality, agriculture or another demand- and margin-driven environment with customer, channel, pricing, mix, trade, and supply complexity.
  • Direct experience balancing demand and constrained supply, including scenario planning, allocation decisions, pricing/trade levers, and margin/cash tradeoffs.
  • A demonstrated hands-on player/coach pattern: comfortable operating in a lean organization, staying close to the details, and personally improving critical work while also delegating and building bench strength.
  • Forward-looking analytical rigor: building driver-based views, testing assumptions, and identifying revenue, margin, cash, and execution risks early.
  • Clear, courageous communication: able to state what is known, unknown, and required, and to protect truth in reporting under pressure.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP and data visualization tools.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Free eggs, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.
