The salary range for this role is $125,000.00 up to $160,000.00 USD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)

The Vice President will support Corporate Banking professionals in executing the first line of defense accountability for strong risk culture. The role provides coordination, analysis, reporting, and oversight support across regulatory initiatives, risk assessments, policy governance, remediation programs, committee governance, and data quality initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES DEFINED

A.  Regulatory Change, Remediation and Internal Audit Coordination

  • Lead organization and gathering of “first day” materials for audit, credit risk review and regulatory exams
  • Participate in regulatory and internal audit/credit risk review meetings
  • Coordinate business responses to regulatory consultations, reviews, examinations, and information requests.
  • Support implementation and tracking of regulatory remediation programs.
  • Assist in annual and ad hoc risk identification and risk assessment exercises.
  • Consolidate stakeholder feedback and prepare management summaries and recommendations.
  • Coordinate policy, standard, and guideline reviews across relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain inventories of policy governance, regulatory commitments, and risk assessments.
  • Track approvals, attestations, action items, and implementation milestones.

B.  Projects/Initiatives

  • Act as Global Corporate Banking representative on risk and regulatory related projects as the credit environment and economic events dictate
  • Interact with Wholesale Credit Methodology on matters regarding Credit Risk Measures as needed.
  • Interact with Operational Risk team on data quality reviews or other initiatives impacting the Corporate Bank
  • Facilitate consistent implementation of mandates across the Global Corporate Bank and lead certain training initiatives
  • Advocate for the Corporate Bank on enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Review and assess proposed changes/updates to Corporate Policies, Standards and Operating Procedures for continued suitability for Corporate Bank. Strive to be Subject Matter Expert on these topics
  • Respond to banker Inquiries on varying credit risk policies/procedural topics

C.  Analytics

  • Evaluate eligibility of credit facilities for inclusion in risk transfer portfolios on as needed basis.
  • Analyze portfolio data to identify underlying drivers of changing metrics.
  • Assess impact of emerging risk events as the environment dictates
  • Support data quality reviews, issue tracking, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and delivering risk-related communications and training materials.
  • Respond to business inquiries regarding governance processes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and executive briefing materials for senior management.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

This role requires the incumbent to interact with the following processes and/or groups:

  • Corporate Banking/GM Corporate Banking personnel at all levels
  • Enterprise Risk (Risk Reporting, Wholesale Credit, Portfolio Management, WCM)
  • Other Operating Groups (US and Canadian Commercial)
  • Corporate Audit and Credit Risk Review teams
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics
  • Risk and Capital Solutions

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of banking, risk management, governance, credit, audit, regulatory, compliance, project management, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Banking and lending processes.
  • Understanding of risk governance, policy management, regulatory expectations, and control frameworks.
  • Familiarity with audit, issue management, remediation, and governance processes.
  • Working knowledge of credit risk concepts and portfolio management practices considered an asset.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
