The Role
Your role
As a System Engineer, you will play a key role in the configuration, maintenance and optimization of core AIX or LINUX infrastructure that support mission critical enterprise workloads. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to respond to system issues and implement solutions, while also contributing to root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
You will ensure stability, performance, security, and high availability of the environment within your role in one of the following areas: Base Operating Systems Management, Configuration Management, Automation Support, Scheduling Management, Storage Management, Performance & Capacity Management, Output Services, Logical Security, Production Control, MQ Support and Networking Support.
Success in this role is demonstrated by timely resolution of technical issues, platform stability and high customer satisfaction.
What you will do
• Configure, maintain and optimize the AIX - LINUX customer environment.
• Take required actions to maintain availability, reliability, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including escalated incidents that require deep technical analysis.
• Support change management processes; including testing and implementing approved system changes.
• Collaborate with other teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and resolutions to support consistent operations.
Who You Are
Required skills and experience
• Technical college degree and/or relevant work experience.
• Key skills including knowledge of AIX OS PowerHA , HMC , VIOS , Red Hat and Suse Linux OS , Disaster Recovery and product maintenance/upgrades.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system / infrastructure issues.
• Knowledge of system programming practices for specific role.
• Experience working within structured processes such as incident, problem, change and inventory management.
• Demonstrated focus on delivering reliable outcomes for customer environments.
Preferred skills and experience
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AIX and Linux administration
• Experience with automation tools or scripting for system programming tasks.
• Familiarity with IBM Power platforms and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Experience working in multi-vendor or enterprise-scale IT environments.
• Relevant technical certifications.
