The Jepson School of Leadership Studies (JSLS) at the University of Richmond invites applications for a full professor of leadership studies, with consideration also given to highly qualified advanced associate professors, to begin in the 2027-2028 academic year.

We seek candidates with a distinguished and ongoing record of scholarship in the study of leadership, and who demonstrate the potential and desire to teach within a vibrant, undergraduate liberal arts context. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in a discipline such as organizational behavior, organizational economics, organizational psychology, social psychology, political psychology, public administration, or a related field.

Subject to the Board of Trustees’ approval, the successful candidate will be appointed to an endowed professorship in leadership studies with the additional possibility of teaching in the Robins School of Business or the School of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to teach “Theories and Methods of Leadership,” a course required within the Jepson curriculum, and will have the opportunity to develop and teach electives in their areas of specialization.

Founded in 1992, the Jepson School of Leadership Studies is the first undergraduate-focused school of leadership studies in the United States. We are a collaborative, inclusive community of active scholars with representation from diverse humanities and social science disciplines. Our curriculum spans the study of political behavior, psychology of social norms, history and literature relevant to social change and leadership, and ethical decision-making.

Applicants should apply online at https://jobs.richmond.edu and submit a 1) curriculum vitae, 2) cover letter, which demonstrates how their scholarly interests bear on leadership and how they are prepared to contribute to the interdisciplinary, liberal arts community at the Jepson School, and 3) a teaching statement, which describes how they would approach undergraduate teaching (of leadership) within an interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum. Candidates for this position may be asked, at a later date, to provide the names and contact information for three references who will be asked to submit letters of recommendation. Review of applications will commence on September 4, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. Please contact Search Chair Dr. Chris von Rueden ([email protected]) with any questions.
