Global Tax is a global function, with specialists currently based in markets around the world including, but not limited to, the UK, US, Netherlands, Ireland, Hungary, and Colombia. Transfer Pricing is central to the management of Diageo’s global tax strategy.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to provide specialist technical and analytical expertise to enable Global tax to deliver the global TP agenda and key strategic TP projects whilst identifying opportunities to improve and simplify ways of working.

About you

• Ownership for the strategy regarding the provision of information for inclusion in TP documentation and other advisory projects, including working with the outsourced TP documentation advisor to develop the strategy for the effective collection of accurate and consistent information and working with finance teams to ensure the strategy is appropriately implemented.

• Providing support to the wider TP team in delivering TP advisory projects and providing TP input into business led projects, with a particular focus on data and complex financial analysis and modelling.

• Provide support to the TP manager in delivering SME input and information into TP audits

• Ownership for identification of technology and process improvements which can improve the current ways of working.

• Provide support to the TP Operations team where required to ensure our TP policies are being driven appropriately.

You will play a key role in supporting the TP team to successfully design and support TP strategies and policies as well as responding to ad-hoc queries that will impact the pricing of finished goods, inter-company royalties, technical service fees, financial transactions, services, and other related party transactions, which act as the internal framework for all external Group sales.

In this way, the role will have direct consequences for the financial performance of all of Diageo’s operating entities including the profits recognised across our supply chain and the quantum of the direct and indirect taxes that we pay.

We work in a technically sophisticated and subjective area, and can have a heavy compliance burden that varies across the markets that we operate in. This is particularly true given significant ongoing revisions to the OECD’s TP guidance, the growing relevance of the UN’s TP guidance for emerging markets and a series of unilateral measures.

You will have global responsibilities and interact with many partners and all areas of our business.

Given this global scope and the myriad interactions between TP and different functions, the role requires you to have a pro-active approach, be highly numerate with excellent commercial skills to apply strong judgment in a range of circumstances.

Accountabilities:

• Owning the strategy with respect to the information gathering process for TP documentation.

• Provide analytical and strategic support to allow the team to deliver all areas of TP policy design, strategy, audits and advisory projects.

• Preparation of complex financing modelling required to inform and support strategic projects.  

• Ownership for the development of technology and process improvements across the TP team

• Supporting the TP Operations team in relation to implementation of our TP policies

What you'll bring

• Degree in Finance/Tax/Accounting with at least 4 years of relevant experience (either in practice or at a large multinational)

• Detailed financial modelling / Excel (or equivalent) experience and familiarity with data extraction, manipulation and presentation

• Strong understanding of accounting and tax principles and reporting process

• Commercially astute, analytically strong strategic problem solver with the ability to collect, evaluate and analyse complex financial data

• Confidence in working with limited data and with tight deadlines

• Inquisitive, patient, and open to new insights and ways of solving a problem
