Location: Windsor, ON

Ferrous Processing and Trading, a business of Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, has an immediate opportunity for a Torchman at the Windsor, ON operation. The successful candidate will use oxygen and propane cutting equipment to safely cut and dismantle heavy machinery, structural steel, and various metal materials for recycling and processing. No prior torch-cutting experience is required; however, experience is considered an asset. Training will be provided to the right candidate. 

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Operate oxygen/propane cutting torches to cut and process heavy machinery, structural steel, and scrap metal.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies while performing cutting operations.
• Wear and properly maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
• Inspect cutting equipment before use and report any defects or safety concerns.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and team leads regarding daily tasks and work priorities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with material handling, sorting, and preparation of scrap materials.
• Identify and remove hazardous materials when required and directed.
• Work safely around heavy equipment and mobile machinery.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous torch-cutting experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and follow established procedures.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials as required.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

The hourly rate for this position is $25.07/hour.
