Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking a Sys-Admin/Cyber Engineering (Test Program Req & Planning) (Associate, Mid-Level or Senior) to join our team in Long Beach, CA.

 

The Sys-Admin/Cyber Engineering will support and secure a mixed legacy and modern lab environment used for aircraft LRU testing. This role is responsible for implementing NIST SP 800‑171 controls, managing Windows and Linux systems, and collaborating on network segmentation and modernization projects. The administrator will maintain and harden end-of-life systems using compensating controls, design and document segmented network architectures for CUI protection, manage backups, logging, and access controls, and work closely with engineering, security, and compliance teams to move the lab toward a fully compliant, segmented infrastructure.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Support and secure legacy, end‑of‑life lab systems where standard patching and upgrades are not immediately possible, using risk‑based, compensating controls
• Collaborate with network and security teams to design and implement network segmentation separating CUI, lab, and corporate environments
• Participate in migration projects to refresh lab equipment and move systems into a segmented, NIST SP 800‑171‑aligned architecture
• Document current‑state configurations, risks, and compensating controls, and contribute to POA&M items for 800‑171 compliance
• Administer Windows and Linux systems in a controlled lab environment handling CUI
• Implement and maintain NIST SP 800‑171 controls across lab networks and test benches
• Design and maintain secure network segmentation and remote access for aircraft LRU test benches
• Develop and maintain system build documentation, configuration baselines, and audit logs aligned with 800‑171
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to support assessments and continuous monitoring

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 3+ years of experience with standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience with Operating systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux
• 3+ years of experience in information security, compliance, or project management implementing and maintaining NIST SP 800-171 or similar NIST

• 1+ years of experience with basic Windows operating system architecture and operation, including Windows server and SQL server
• 1+ years of experience with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)/RMF and National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 requirements
• 1+ years of experience with cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks including NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, CMMC, ISO, GDPR, ITAR or similar frameworks

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience with standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)
• Experience working in aerospace, defense, or similar high-tech industry
• Experience with pursuing or maintaining NIST 800-53,NIST 800‑171, CMMC, or DFARS compliance
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range:

Level 2: $90,950-$123,050

Level 3: $111,350-$150,650

Level 4: $135,150-$182,850
