Looking for a role where software meets hardware?

As a Test Development Engineer, you’ll develop software and automated test solutions used to characterize, validate, and test semiconductor and imaging products. You’ll work hands-on with C#/.NET, ATE platforms, instrumentation, test hardware, and manufacturing systems while partnering with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to bring new products from development into production.

This role offers a unique mix of software development, hardware integration, semiconductor testing, data analysis, and hands-on problem solving. You’ll have the opportunity to create tools and automation that directly improve test efficiency, product performance, yield, and manufacturing productivity.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain C#/.NET software supporting automated semiconductor test systems.
  • Develop reusable software components, libraries, GUIs, data collection tools, and automation utilities.
  • Integrate software with ATE platforms, instrumentation, hardware controllers, and manufacturing systems.
  • Develop and deploy automated test solutions for semiconductor production, wafer probe, characterization, and product verification.
  • Build tools to collect, analyze, visualize, and report test, yield, and performance data.
  • Prepare, configure, and debug test stations and equipment in preparation for new hardware.
  • Perform characterization, production probe, and performance testing for new ICs and FPAs.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, test, and production issues and support root-cause investigations.
  • Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to identify and resolve product or design deficiencies discovered during testing.
  • Develop unit tests and automated verification methods for new CMOS ASIC products.
  • Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and configuration management activities.
  • Develop and maintain clear software requirements, architecture, test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Continuously improve test automation, repeatability, efficiency, and manufacturing productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience developing applications using C# and .NET.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across software, hardware, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and other technical teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on rare occasions.

  • FPGA-based systems
  • LabVIEW, Python, or C++
  • Hardware communication protocols such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, RS-232, or TCP/IP
  • Semiconductor devices, mixed-signal ICs, image sensors, or RF products
  • CMOS ASIC or wafer probe testing
  • Automated data analysis and reporting tools
  • Printed circuit test board assembly and component soldering
