Requirements
Strategic Architecture & System Design
- Conduct blueprinting and value stream mapping exercises, working with Product Owners and Technical Architects to align business processes with target technology architectures.
- Structure the analysis of a business, product, or capability using frameworks such as SWOT or MOST analysis.
- Map end-to-end journeys and the business objects that flow through them, creating a traceable bridge from business outcomes to value streams, journeys, systems, and data.
- Develop a single, unified view spanning business, process, application, and data architecture by mapping journeys across consistent layers (including customer interactions, workflow orchestration, case management, and shared services).
- Analyse existing systems, integrations, and complex data flows to identify gaps, risks, overlapping capabilities, and manual data transfers.
- Document how key business and customer processes work today, design future states with stakeholders, and use data to quantify the difference.
Technical Requirements & Systems Engineering
- Gather, analyse, decompose, and document functional, non-functional, and system requirements.
- Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability and manage baselines, change requests, and impact assessments across lifecycle artefacts (supporting audits and V&V activities).
- Write and maintain business editable decision tables and rules engines, ensuring versioned, tested rules can be managed by operations without requiring a code release.
- Demonstrate an understanding of expected behaviours for AI powered features, writing precise acceptance criteria where outputs are not deterministic.
Agile Delivery & Full-Lifecycle Execution
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and process definitions that developers can build from without guessing.
- Work across the full delivery lifecycle alongside UX/UI designers, developers, DevOps teams, and architects.
- Support Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups) and assist with operational readiness and business change activities.
- Help coordinate testing activities, review test scripts, support defect triage, and drive user acceptance testing (UAT) resolution.
Stakeholder & Product Management
- Provide a common language for business leaders, product teams, architects, and delivery teams by focusing on how real things move through the organisation as work is performed upon them.
- Facilitate constructive conversations and workshops to build stakeholder buy-in, particularly when requirements do not align with strategic product objectives.
- Use data to size problems, validate assumptions, and confirm whether shipped changes delivered the intended outcomes.
- Keep stakeholders informed, manage scope conversations honestly, and act as the first point of contact for the delivery team to resolve requirements-related issues.
Key Skills & Experience
- Core Business Analysis: Proven experience delivering within complex technical projects, digital platforms, or multi-tenant SaaS environments. Ability to structure analysis using SWOT, MOST, or similar frameworks.
- Requirements Engineering: Strong knowledge of requirements elicitation, traceability, and change control tooling (e.g., Jira, DOORS-type tools, or equivalents).
- Systems & Journey Modelling: An understanding of process and system modelling (e.g., BPMN, UML, TOGAF, or ArchiMate), with the ability to use these concepts alongside journey architecture to build a complete picture of an organisation.
- Data Literacy: Confident working with data products and APIs; an understanding of SQL or analytics tooling for sizing, validation, and system mapping.
- Agile Expertise: Experience working in Agile teams, supporting ceremonies, and writing technical user stories.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent facilitation skills with the confidence to run workshops with senior stakeholders, challenge proposed solutions, and negotiate scope.
- Desirable: Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Microsoft Azure/Fabric, Salesforce, or experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g., MOD, UK Aerospace, or strict Gov sectors).
