The job

As a Technical Application Scientist II, you will partner with researchers and customers to resolve complex chemistry-related questions that directly impact their success and the effective use of Thermo Fisher Scientific products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, while continuously expanding your technical knowledge across a diverse chemical product portfolio.

What will you do

• Provide expert-level technical support for Thermo Fisher Scientific chemical product portfolios by addressing customer inquiries via telephone, email, and web chat.
• Own and manage technical cases from initial inquiry through resolution, ensuring timely, high-quality customer support.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Quality Assurance and Product Management to resolve complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions within CRM systems to support service excellence and continuous improvement.
• Proactively recommend enhancements to technical knowledge bases, websites, processes and other company-managed resources to improve usability and customer experience.
• Invest in your professional development through ongoing product training, continuous learning, and exposure to new applications and emerging technologies.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and special initiatives to broaden technical expertise and career development opportunities.

Education and competencies required

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• 1–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments and interpret scientific data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering high-quality scientific support.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Fluency in English and in one additional language (German, Spanish, French or Italian).
