Role Summary

The System Architect is responsible for defining and driving the end-to-end technical architecture of LaserJet printing solutions across hardware, firmware, software, connectivity, security, and customer experience domains. The role serves as the technical authority for product platforms and ensures that system designs align with business objectives, customer needs, quality targets, schedule commitments, and cost goals.

This position works closely with Print Engineering R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Technology partners to transform product requirements into scalable, innovative, and market-leading LaserJet solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the overall system architecture and technology roadmap for A4 Volume and SMB LaserJet platforms and products.
• Translate business, customer, and market requirements into system-level technical specifications.
• Drive architecture decisions across hardware, firmware, software, security, connectivity, cloud services, and customer experience.
• Lead technical tradeoff decisions balancing performance, quality, cost, schedule, and customer value.
• Develop reusable platform architectures that accelerate product development and improve portfolio competitiveness.
• Identify opportunities for architecture commonality, modularity, and technology reuse across product families.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation that strengthens future product differentiation.
• Partner with Product Management to align technology investments with business strategy and market needs.
• Resolve complex technical issues and drive root-cause analysis of system-level challenges.
• Facilitate design reviews and architecture governance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Define critical system requirements related to print quality, reliability, performance, security, sustainability, and customer experience.
• Develop technical capabilities and architecture competencies within the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Typically, 15+ years of work experience in engineering, or related technical fields
• Extensive experience in system architecture, product development, or engineering leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, firmware, software, electronics, and product architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional engineering programs.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
