Position Overview
We are a fast-growing hardware startup seeking an experienced and highly motivated Supplier Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will drive supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, and scalability. You’ll work closely with the supply base and , Product Development, providing Manufacturing and process expertise to ensure suppliers meet our rigorous requirements and continuously improve business and manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of successfully launching new products, sustaining current products, collaborating with Contract Manufacturers, and expertise in multiple manufacturing methods, particularly metal/plastic machining, plastic injection molding (PIM), and metal injection molding (MIM). You’ll help evaluate, select, and develop suppliers while optimizing processes to drive performance and cost reductions.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts with suppliers, ensuring successful product launches.
  • Drive continuous improvements in supplier scalability, cost management, and product quality.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and apply data-driven methodologies (SPC, DOE) to optimize processes and manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop robust processes and procedures for high-quality production.
  • Provide input on material selection for improved design, manufacturability, or cost reduction.
  • Capitalize on your experience in strategic supplier sourcing.
  • Solve manufacturing and production related issues at the T2 supply base.
  • Review detailed mechanical drawings, communicate technical specifications, and ensure clear understanding across teams.
  • Leverage your expertise in metal machining, plastics, electronics, PCBA and contract manufacturing to solve complex challenges.
  • Manage project plans, timelines, and budgets focused on supplier performance and improvements.
  • Partner with product design, and project teams to ensure smooth communication and alignment with suppliers and stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in engineering and manufacturing, with a focus on high-volume mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier management and development, driving supplier performance and continuous improvement.
  • Expertise in reviewing mechanical drawings, GD&T, metrology, and statistical data analysis (SPC, DOE, sampling plans).
  • Strong team-building skills, with the ability to work across functions and effectively manage supplier relationships.
  • Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage complex, global supplier networks and ensure high-performance standards.
  • Willingness to travel (20-25%) both domestically and internationally on short notice.
  • Raw materials knowledge in polymers and metal. 
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, casting, and assembly. Knowledge of mechanical design and materials is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using data analysis tools to drive decision-making.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial engineering or a related field.
