Position Summary
The Supplier Development Engineering Intern or Co-op will support the Supplier Development Engineering team in evaluating and improving supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational performance. The intern or co-op will gain hands-on experience working with contract manufacturers, supplier performance metrics, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides exposure to engineering, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and new product development activities within a regulated medical device environment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in collecting and analyzing supplier quality, delivery, and performance data.
Support supplier assessments by gathering manufacturing, quality, and capacity information.
Participate in supplier improvement projects focused on quality, cost, delivery, and process capability.
Help develop reports, dashboards, and performance metrics used to monitor supplier performance.
Assist with supplier capacity analysis and risk assessments.
Support investigations into supplier-related quality issues by documenting findings and corrective actions.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and problem-solving initiatives using structured methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, and Supplier Development.
Assist with documenting project plans, change assessments, action items, and status updates for supplier-related projects.
Support new product development activities through supplier research and process qualification activities.
Help maintain supplier records, engineering documentation, and Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
Learn and follow applicable regulatory and quality requirements, including US FDA, EU MDR, and company procedures.
Participate in supplier meetings and project reviews as appropriate.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Training to be Provided
Students will be exposed to working with various operations and product support departments within Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). They will learn key requirements that need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry. Training may cover relevant aspects of medical device development procedures, along with more specific aspects related to BMT products.
Additionally, our co-ops and interns benefit from a buddy program, career development program, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Preferred:
Prior internship, co-op, project, or laboratory experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering environments.
Exposure to data analysis and statistical tools such as Minitab, JMP, or similar software.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement concepts.
Interest in medical device manufacturing, supplier quality, or operations engineering.

Compensation & Total Rewards:
Estimated Pay Range: $23.00 – $25.00/hour
*Estimated Starting Pay Range is reflective of the range Bracco Medical Technologies reasonably expects to pay for the position. The range provided is based on compensation and market data specific to the position.
