Job Description

This is a non-benefited supplemental assistant coach position. This position is responsible in assisting the coaching staff of a national competitive Track and Field / Cross Country program. 

Essential Functions

This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance on campus.

Responsibilities

1.    Assist in administering the intercollegiate program in compliance with the University, NCAA & G-MAC rules & regulations as required
2.    Assist with physical conditioning & practice preparation.
3.    Assist with practice sessions, pre-game preparations and competition.
4.    Organize a team that is competitive and representative of the University’s philosophy and compatible with its mission.
5.    Assist in recruiting potential student athletes.
6.    Assist in team travel
7.    Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position

Physical Demands
Walk, stand, bend, lifts, and moves constantly during working hours. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry/transport an object/equipment that weighs 50 lbs.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a non-benefited supplemental coach position. Candidate may be required to work on Saturday – Sunday.  
 
Travel
This job requires travel with athletic team to competitions and events. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Required Education and Experience
1.    Bachelor’s degree
2.    Six months of coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level
3.    Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic rules and regulations
4.    Ability to evaluate physical performance related to intercollegiate competition
5.    Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural and diverse student population

Additional Qualifications: 
The candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends. Must be able to communicate with Head Coach, student-athletes, and administrative staff as well as the sports medicine staff.  Must be CPR/First Aid Certified.  Must possess basic computer skills including but not limited to Excel and Microsoft Word.  The student assistant will work in coordination with the head coach in the operation of a NCAA Division II Track and Field Program; maintain a thorough knowledge of, and abide by all NCAA, G-MAC and institutional rules and regulations.  Failure to do so may lead to suspension or possible termination; attend all NCAA Compliance meetings as offered by the department; successfully complete the NCAA DII University Modules annually.
