Key Accountabilities
- Supervise daily transportation, warehouse, receiving, inventory, order fulfillment, and shipping operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide direct leadership, coaching, scheduling, training, and performance management for Team Leaders and frontline employees.
- Assign and prioritize daily work activities to ensure operational objectives, productivity targets, and service commitments are achieved.
- Monitor transportation activities, route execution, and fleet utilization to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.
- Ensure customer orders are accurately picked, staged, shipped, and delivered within established service standards.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Customer Service, Sales, Operations, and customers regarding shipment status, operational issues, service concerns, and delivery inquiries.
- Maintain compliance with SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, DOT regulations, and all applicable company and government requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety by conducting safety observations, leading employee training, investigating incidents, and implementing corrective actions.
- Support inventory management activities including cycle counts, inventory accuracy initiatives, product reconciliation, and inventory control processes.
- Monitor facility, fleet, and warehouse equipment conditions and coordinate maintenance requests to ensure operational readiness.
- Track operational performance metrics and communicate results to the Distribution Center Manager while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on operational support, including warehouse activities, material handling, and delivery route coverage as required by business needs.
- Respond to off-hours operational issues, customer concerns, or emergency situations as needed.
- Assist with employee onboarding, training, and development initiatives to build a highly engaged and capable workforce.
- Support implementation of process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, quality, and customer service performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in transportation, distribution, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations, including experience leading employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and Class B CDL required with an acceptable driving record; ability to obtain and maintain required DOT qualifications and certifications.
- Experience with transportation coordination, warehouse operations, inventory control, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferences
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field.
- 3+ years of transportation, warehouse, or logistics supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, and fleet management requirements.
- Experience operating and supervising CDL delivery operations.
- Forklift certification and experience operating warehouse equipment.
- Experience with ERP, transportation management, warehouse management, or inventory control systems.
- Experience with Samsara or similar fleet management and telematics platforms.
- Experience supporting distribution operations involving temperature-sensitive, regulated, or specialty products.
- Continuous improvement, Lean, or process optimization experience.
- Knowledge of inventory planning and inventory accuracy best practices.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical warehouse duties throughout the workday.
- Work is performed in warehouse, dock, transportation, and office environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and environmental conditions.
- Frequent operation of warehouse equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and company vehicles as required.
- Subject to DOT safety, medical certification, and drug-testing requirements.
- Must be able to maintain a valid Class B CDL and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and cover delivery routes when business conditions require.
- Must be available to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Ability to respond to after-hours operational emergencies when needed.
- May require occasional travel between distribution centers, customer locations, or company facilities.
*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
