We are seeking an experienced Structural Section Manager to lead a team of structural engineers supporting complex power generation, industrial, federal, and infrastructure projects. Position Summary:
The Structural Section Manager provides leadership, technical guidance, and operational oversight for a team of structural engineering professionals while reporting to the Structural Department Manager. This role is responsible for ensuring project delivery excellence, resource planning, quality assurance, staff development, and financial performance.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, technical leaders, and executive leadership to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while fostering a culture of engagement, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing:
Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of assigned structural engineering staff.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers at all stages of their careers.
- Support succession planning and help build the next generation of technical leaders.
- Recommend training and professional development opportunities that enhance individual and team capabilities.
- Provide input regarding hiring, compensation, promotions, transfers, and other personnel decisions.
- Coordinate project priorities, workload planning, staffing schedules, and resource assignments.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
- Monitor resource utilization and maintain effective staffing plans across the section.
- Partner with project managers to proactively address project delivery challenges and opportunities.
- Ensure quality control standards are consistently met across all assigned work.
- Serve as a trusted technical leader on complex structural engineering projects.
- Support the design of steel structures and foundations for power generation, industrial, and other critical infrastructure facilities.
- Develop and review engineering reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and related technical documentation.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement in engineering design, quality, and project execution.
- Encourage innovation through the application of modern engineering tools, technology, and design methodologies.
- Collaborate with project managers and senior technical staff to support business development initiatives.
- Foster strong client relationships and contribute to project pursuit efforts.
- Help identify strategic growth opportunities within existing and emerging markets.
- Support department leadership in achieving operational and financial performance goals.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible structural engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing engineering resources.
- Strong understanding of structural design principles, project delivery processes, and quality management practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience supporting power generation, industrial, federal, or heavy infrastructure projects.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering professionals.
- Business development and client relationship management experience.
- Active involvement in professional engineering organizations.
- Previous experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
