Ready to reach your potential? It’s time to look at Taylor.

Your Opportunity: Taylor Print & Visual Impressions, a division of Taylor Corporation, is looking for a Structural Corrugated Designer to join our team in Duluth, GA! The primary focus of this role is designing corrugated boxes and protective packaging used to safely and efficiently ship retail graphics, signage, display components, printed materials, and other visual products produced across our operations. This position will work closely with R&D, Production, Packout, Fulfillment, Sales, and Operations to develop right-sized, cost-effective packaging solutions and support our new box-making equipment. In addition to the core shipping-box function, this role will be a critical technical resource in expanding our custom corrugated display and point-of-purchase (POP) initiatives by developing structural concepts, prototypes, and production-ready solutions for customer opportunities. The ideal candidate combines strong corrugated box-design fundamentals with the creativity and technical ability to support the continued growth of custom retail display and POP solutions.

Work Authorization: To be considered for the Taylor opportunities, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design corrugated shipping boxes and protective packaging primarily for retail graphics, signage, display components, printed materials, and other visual products.
  • Develop right-sized packaging that protects finished products while reducing excess corrugated, void fill, freight cube, packing labor, and overall packaging cost.
  • Work directly with R&D, Production, Packout, Fulfillment, Sales, and Operations to understand product dimensions, fragility, handling requirements, shipping methods, and customer expectations.
  • Create structural drawings, dielines, specifications, samples, and production-ready files using ArtiosCAD or comparable structural packaging CAD software.
  • Provide design and technical support for the new box-making equipment, including box styles, machine-ready files, material selections, setup considerations, and development of repeatable packaging standards.
  • Develop packaging for both standard recurring products and one-off/custom shipments where an existing box or packaging method is not suitable.
  • Design internal corrugated components such as pads, dividers, partitions, sleeves, corner protection, inserts, and other structures needed to protect graphics and display components in transit.
  • Develop and maintain a library of approved box styles, structural designs, specifications, materials, and packaging standards for commonly shipped products.
  • Support packaging trials with Production and Packout teams and modify designs based on fit, protection, packing time, damage risk, material utilization, and manufacturing feedback.
  • Troubleshoot packaging-related shipping damage and identify structural or material improvements to reduce recurring damage and rework.
  • Support the expansion of Taylor's custom corrugated display and POP capabilities by developing structural concepts for retail displays, merchandising solutions, display components, and related corrugated applications.
  • Partner with Sales and R&D on custom corrugated display opportunities to translate customer, brand, product, and retailer requirements into creative, manufacturable structural solutions.
  • Develop prototypes and samples for custom corrugated displays and POP concepts using digital cutting equipment such as Zund, Kongsberg, or comparable sample-making equipment.
  • Evaluate custom display and POP designs for structural performance, manufacturability, assembly, material utilization, graphics integration, shipping, installation, and overall cost.
  • Support the transition of approved custom corrugated display and POP concepts from prototype through production-ready design and manufacturing.
  • Assist with palletization, load configuration, packout, and shipment optimization when required for larger retail graphic and display programs.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize box sizes and materials, increase utilization of internally produced packaging, reduce outside purchasing, and improve overall packaging efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You Must Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in structural corrugated design, packaging design, corrugated converting, or a closely related field; equivalent education and industry experience will be considered.
  • Hands-on experience designing corrugated shipping boxes and protective packaging.
  • Working proficiency with ArtiosCAD or comparable structural packaging CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of corrugated materials, board grades, flute profiles, box styles, and corrugated manufacturing/converting processes.
  • Ability to translate product dimensions, protection requirements, packout needs, and shipping constraints into practical structural packaging designs.
  • Ability to visualize how flat corrugated material converts, folds, and assembles into three-dimensional boxes, protective structures, and display solutions.
  • Understanding of production considerations including cutting, creasing, scoring, folding, gluing, digital cutting, and assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on simple, manufacturable, cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple design requests and work effectively with R&D, Production, Packout, Fulfillment, Sales, and Operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

We Would Also Prefer:

  • Experience designing corrugated retail displays, POP/POS displays, merchandising solutions, or other structural display applications.
  • Experience designing packaging for printed graphics, signage, retail displays, fixtures, or other large-format visual products.
  • Experience supporting automated or on-demand box-making equipment and creating machine-ready box designs.
  • Experience operating Zund, Kongsberg, or comparable digital sample-cutting equipment.
  • Experience with CAPE, TOPS, or other palletization and load-optimization software.
  • Working knowledge of ISTA package performance testing and shipping-damage prevention.
  • Experience developing corrugated inserts, partitions, corner protection, and other protective packaging structures.
  • Familiarity with Esko Studio, Esko WebCenter, Adobe Illustrator, or related packaging/design workflow tools.
  • Familiarity with retailer display requirements, graphics integration, display assembly, and packout considerations.
  • Experience working in a high-mix, custom manufacturing, print, retail graphics, fulfillment, or packout environment.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Retail graphics, signage, and display products have consistent, well-engineered shipping boxes and protective packaging that reduce damage and protect product quality through delivery.
  • Packout teams have right-sized, easy-to-use packaging solutions that improve packing efficiency and reduce unnecessary materials and cost.
  • The new box-making equipment is effectively utilized to produce both recurring and custom shipping boxes internally.
  • A standardized library of proven box designs and packaging specifications is developed for frequently shipped products.
  • The role becomes a key technical contributor to the growth of custom corrugated display and POP opportunities, helping Sales and R&D turn customer needs into viable structural concepts.
  • Custom corrugated display and POP projects move efficiently from concept and prototype through approval and production-ready design.
  • Packaging and structural design improvements measurably reduce material cost, outside box purchasing, freight cube, damage, packout labor, or time to market.
