What you will do:
- The Strategist Participant Communication is a client-facing role that services existing client relationships within the Large/Mega/Not-For-Profit (LMN) market.
- Participant communications team.
- Incumbent develops, implements, manages and measures the participant communications strategy (multi-touch and multi-channel) for Empower's strategic clients in the Large/Mega/Not-For-Profit (LMN) market.
- The role combines financial services acumen with strategic communications, product knowledge, and client management to help improve retirement readiness.
- The role is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction while managing client profitability with the entire service team.
- Responsible for accurate and timely communications relating to plan activity, as well as more strategic action-based campaigns to assist with changing participant behavior.
- Guides clients to improve financial education and overall participant wellness through existing tools.
- Reviews and recommends communication design and delivery strategies while managing a book of business.
- Oversees participant communication budget, deliverables, quality control, timelines, metrics and planning.
- Attends and presents new concepts or provides campaign updates during client meetings, whether in person, via webcast or phone on regular basis.
- Explains complex concepts and builds consensus with client contacts.
- Engages Retirement Education Team to conduct employee meetings and select presentations/webcasts.
- Completes the creative brief as required by Marketing to ensure full understanding of each initiative/tactic, as appropriate, for more complex projects.
- Understands the budget for each assigned client and executes appropriate initiatives in line with that budget.
- Coordinates all workflow processes to see deliverables through to completion.
- The Strategist Participant Communication manages a book of clients and travels up to 20% of the time to manage existing client relationships.
- What you will do:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, journalism, communications, finance or relevant field.
- FINRA fingerprinting required.
- Retirement industry experience: typically, a minimum five years, including knowledge of defined contribution, defined benefit, non-qualified plans and financial services industry, including relevant regulatory compliance.
- Retirement communications experience; typically, a minimum of five years, including experience with required and discretionary communication deliverables. Specifically, familiarity with variable data, personalization and multi-channel delivery approaches to communications.
- Client management experience; typically, a minimum of five years, in corporate benefits, communications or marketing.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Advisor/Intermediary relationship experience and an understanding of their role.
- Strong presentation skills, along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and aptitude to quickly learn other systems/software.
- Knowledge of style guides.
- Strong negotiation and conflict management skills; ability to anticipate and overcome potential objections.
- Adaptable to a fluid work environment and seasonal spikes in workload.
- Role requires understanding of and adherence to communication budget and expense variables associated with client relationships.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as but not limited to; computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to concentrate, talk and hear.
- This role is regularly required to type, reach with hands and arms, sit for long periods of time, read, write, listen, verbally communicate, present information, respond to questions, problem solve, concentrate and tolerate stress.
- Many duties will be done while sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must have physical ability travel by air, automobile and train and other means of transportation to fulfill travel requirements of position.
- Uses established procedures and works under immediate supervision of communications management. Performs assigned tasks.
- Makes decisions and takes action to ensure client satisfaction with Empower communications and deliverables.
- Refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
- Signature authority level does not apply to this position.
- Manages projects to ensure stay within timeline and budget.
- Manages clients to ensure they stay within annual budget and/or incur additional out-of-scope costs for requests outside of budget/contract.
- Internal Contacts include, but are not limited to, service team members, communications/education, product, operations and marketing teams.
- Externally, works with clients and advisors/consultants.

Base Salary Range
$75,400.00 - $106,525.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
