Position Summary:

The Sr. Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring optimal material availability for Illumina's instrument and spare parts portfolio by balancing supply, demand, inventory, and lead-times to support manufacturing, service, and customer needs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute material plans to support instrument manufacturing, service, repair, and refurbishment operations.
• Monitor material availability and proactively communicate shortages or surplus to prevent supply disruptions in the network.
• Manage inventory levels to balance customer service, operational readiness, and inventory investment.
• Review and recommend updates to planning parameters, lead times, and master data.
• Analyze demand and supply changes, communicate risks and mitigation plans.
• Partner with Procurement to resolve delivery issues and improve material availability.
• Support product lifecycle transitions from a material readiness perspective.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Logistics, and Supply Planning.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for inventory imbalances (surplus or shortage).
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance planning efficiency, inventory performance, and service levels.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree within Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain or Life Science disciplines 
• Direct experience with supply and demand processes including forecasts, receipt and delivery processes, inventory reports, accuracy validation procedures, cycle counts and audit procedures is preferred
• Experience with ERP and MRP systems, preferably SAP
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and drive actionable insights 
• Knowledge of MS Office with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to craft messages and presentations for senior leadership. 
• Ability to work with cross-cultural organizations and groups, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
• APICS CPIM, CSCP or other professional certifications preferred

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Materials Planner role based in the United States of America is: $82,500 - $123,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
