Under the general supervision of the Director/Associate Director of Graduate Programs, advise graduate business students regarding academic and career planning, and serve as a resource on specific academic programs and policies. Create event/activity programming strategy which focuses on the student experience and readies the students for their career. Develop relevant programming content based on feedback from student focus groups, Program Ambassador meetings, and student relationships to inform the programming for the AY. in coordination with Program Directors, Program Faculty, Graduate staff, Career and Professional Success, and other offices including but not limited to the Graduate School, the Office of International Students & Scholars, the Registrar, Business Services, Financial Aid, and UNH Online.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Student Support(progress and success):

  • Serve as primary academic advisor and advocate for several hundred PAUL graduate students across multiple programs.
  • Work with students individually and in groups to assist them with academic and planning.
  • Assist students in developing individual educational plans for completing degree requirements.
  • Instruct students on the processes of registration, adding/dropping of courses, petitions, change of majors, repeated course forms, intent to graduate forms, PAUL registration forms, and other policies and procedures of the Paul College and the University of New Hampshire.
  • Utilize various information systems to monitor student progress and registration activity, create needed reports, analyze data, and use data to inform advising outreach.
  • Proactively monitor student success and individually meet with students, including those who have received failing grades or have been identified as struggling in their academic programs.
  • Advise these students regarding their status and its consequences to their educational plans and goals.
  • Assist them in developing alternate plans, if needed.
  • Advise students who have been excluded, suspended or dismissed, regarding their educational options.
  • Help students who are in academic jeopardy to develop academic plans for improvement.
  • Refer students to appropriate UNH offices.
  • Assess student needs for referral to other programs and offices on campus when needed, such as PACS, SHARPP, Center for Business Analytics, etc.
  • Direct students to the appropriate offices, make contacts with personnel in other offices as needed in order to collaborate and coordinate.
  • Collaborate with OISS to provide adequate support to international students from onboarding through to the OPT process.
  • Work with Graduate School on petitions, student holds, dismissals, or leave of absence requests.

Student Experience Programming:

  • Coordinate program activities from the beginning of the student cycle at Admitted Student Day and Pre-Arrival Webinars, through to Commencement.
  • Student events are as follows:
    • Admitted Student Day:
      • Advisors hold 3 separate Admitted Student Day events, 1 in person and 2 online. These are meant to welcome students to UNH and get them invested in their program, which helps with summer melt.
    • Orientations:
      • Advisors work collaboratively to plan and implement the Paul All-Grad Orientation held on campus a week before fall classes start.
      • Coordinate logistics for all facets of orientations including room reservation, parking arrangements, meals, and engagement opportunities.
      • Schedule, facilitate, and create content for virtual orientation for Part-Time and Online MBA programs twice each year in the Fall and Spring.
    • Cohort meetings:
      • Advisors help set up monthly cohort meetings (9 per program) for Full-time programs with their program director throughout the year.
    • Program residencies:
      • Collect identification and relevant data for all travelers.
      • Collect quotes and identify the best travel options including international airlines, local ground transportation, and hotel accommodations.
      • Act as point of contact for International Study Program partner leading up to and during the residency.
      • Ensure all travelers are registered with the University’s travel insurance by gathering and submitting traveler information, emergency contacts, and Code of Conduct agreements.
      • Identify opportunities for group social outings and arrange logistics.
    • Corporate Consulting Project Presentations:
      • Coordinate with ADMN 905: Corporate Consulting Project faculty to identify dates of final presentations and the number of Corporate visitors.
      • Reserve space near classroom and order catering during the presentation days.
    • Weekend Intensive Elective Course Support:
      • Identify elective courses with weekend-intensive sessions to provide faculty-requested resources including meals and logistics. Some weekend hours included.
    • Networking events:
      • Advisors plan and execute two (2) All-Program networking events throughout the academic year. Cynthia works with Associate Director on a networking night for Part-Time and Online MBA students.
    • All-Program Grad Nights:
      • Advisors plan and execute two (2) All-Programs Grad nights in the academic year to build community across disciplines.
    • Commencement reception:
      • Advisors work with the Graduate Programs Office and Program & Event Assistant to plan and execute a post-commencement reception for all graduating Paul master’s and PhD students.
    • RISE:
      • Advisors work with the Associate Director and Director to plan and execute the Resources for the International Student Experience (RISE), an initiative aimed to provide rich cultural experiences to international students new to the USA, promoting cross-cultural understanding and fostering a more inclusive and interconnected society.
    • Graduate Programs Ambassador program:
      • Advisors coordinate the Graduate Programs Ambassador program, including applicant review and selection, as well as ambassador monthly meetings with appropriate stakeholders.
    • Inter-departmental collaboration:
      • Collaborate with faculty program directors throughout the academic year to support the student experience, including orientation planning, identifying student issues and possible solutions, and providing relevant feedback for programmatic improvements.
      • Act as liaison between faculty and scheduling to adjust caps, location, and make-up class dates.
      • Act as a resource to faculty who have questions regarding PAUL and UNH graduate student policies and processes.
      • Monitor enrollment numbers to determine viability of running courses.
      • Contact all faculty at two weeks and four weeks into each term or semester to identify struggling students and provide appropriate support.
      • Track and manage financial assistance awards, including but not limited to: Scholarships, Tuition Discounts, Graduate Assistantships, EdAssist discounts, and Deferred Billing.
      • Provide college award information to central Finance and to student financial services as needed. Provide award letters to students as needed.
    • Communications:
      • In conjunction with this programming, advisors prepare and design necessary materials such as program handbooks, newsletters, and email campaigns.
      • Develop meaningful relationships with alumni to promote Paul College community and enhance the experience of current students.
      • With a focus on Student Experience and retention, create onboarding email campaign for a comprehensive onboarding experience.

Requirements:

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business administration, education, or other field and two years of experience working within higher education advising; or Bachelor's degree and four years of experience.
  • Experience working with graduate students in an advising capacity
  • Experience using Workday, Webi, Canvas or other student services software
  • Experience planning and executing events

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and communication techniques
  • High level of organization and attention to detail

Compensation Pay Range:

$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
