In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams designing, developing, integrating, and verifying advanced digital hardware, PCB assemblies, and embedded electronics for innovative imaging, sensing, and surveillance products. You will contribute to the development of next-generation electronic systems utilizing embedded processors, FPGA and SoC technologies, high-speed digital interfaces, low-power electronics, and other advanced hardware platforms. This position provides the opportunity to take hardware designs from concept through production while collaborating with Software, Mechanical, Systems, Test, FPGA, and Manufacturing Engineering teams in a highly technical product development environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Product Management and Business Development to help define new products and technology roadmaps.

  • Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures, digital hardware designs, and board-level implementations.

  • Design and develop complex printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies incorporating embedded processors, FPGA or SoC devices, memory architectures, and high-speed digital interfaces.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Software, Mechanical, Systems, Test, FPGA, and Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Perform schematic capture, support PCB layout reviews, and ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost objectives.

  • Perform hands-on bring-up, integration, debug, validation, and testing of prototype and production hardware.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot hardware issues in laboratory environments.

  • Support signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and design-for-manufacturing activities throughout product development.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, test procedures, and manufacturing release packages.

  • Support new product introduction and transition into production.

  • Solve complex technical problems with limited direction, contribute to requirements development, evaluate tradeoffs, and propose effective technical solutions.

  • Lead technical tasks involving multiple cross-functional stakeholders and effectively communicate status, risks, and recommendations to project leadership and customers.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to hardware design processes, product reliability, and engineering best practices.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field strongly preferred.

  • 5-10+ years of experience in digital hardware design, embedded electronics, PCB design, or related hardware development.

  • Strong experience designing digital circuit boards and complex electronic systems.

  • Experience with embedded processors, memory architectures, and high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, SERDES, MIPI, UART, 1553, Aurora, or similar technologies.

  • Experience with hardware architecture development, schematic capture, PCB layout review, and full product development lifecycle activities.

  • Thorough understanding of digital electronics, high-speed digital design, embedded hardware design principles, and board-level integration.

  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and board-level design best practices.

  • Experience integrating, debugging, validating, and troubleshooting hardware systems in laboratory environments.

  • Ability to write detailed technical specifications and engineering documentation.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing FPGA-based or SoC-based hardware platforms.

  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice, Microchip, or similar FPGA technologies.

  • Experience with Altium Designer or similar schematic capture and PCB design tools.

  • Experience with embedded systems, imaging systems, sensor technologies, aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, or other complex electronic products.

  • Experience supporting products through manufacturing release and production.
