Position Purpose:
Ensures that students are compliant with clinical placement requirements. Collects and analyses the students’ clinical placement records.
Responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the program across different academic programs for the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Advising: Communicates with students whose records are not complete and do not meet the program’s requirements and determines a plan of action. Ensures that students, post-graduate students are aware of the consequences of non-compliance which includes barring from course registration, removal from academic program. Communicates with the clinical placement coordinators regarding non-compliance issues.
- Case management: Reviews and assesses medical records and police record verifications submitted by students to determine if they meet the established standards. Records reviewed include immunization records, serology results, medical reports, on-site testing results, and other associated medical tests and records.
- Operations: Participates in the preparation of the operational calendar which details, but is not limited to, deadlines, dates information is required from various stakeholders and dates communications with students/employees are to be undertaken with the objective of contributing to best operational practices.
- Reports and records keeping: Maintains electronic files for students/ involved in the Student Placement Risk Management program.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Sciences (RN) with combination of 3 years’ experience, or College degree in Nursing Sciences (RPN) with 5 years’ experience)
- Valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Specialized nursing experience in evaluating immunizations and occupational health
Other Qualifications:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards in the area of epidemiology.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial privacy legislation
- Knowledge of human rights code and its applicability to the collection of confidential and sensitive information
- Experience in applying policies and procedures,
- Experience in applying health counselling techniques
- Experience in problem solving, negotiation and crisis management.
- Experience in using software for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, e-mail and internet.
- Ability to analyze and maintain student records with accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to maintain CPRM documentation standards.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, students and external stakeholders.
- Ability to set priorities and work in stressful environment.
- Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
