Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting Specialist Electrician to support operations across the Midwest and Southeastern United States. This is a residence-based position.

Specialist Electrician hold a highly demanding role that requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and the capability to lead maintenance crews when necessary. This position provides critical support to operations and may require availability on a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week basis to respond to plant needs.

Work is performed at facilities located throughout the United States, with primary responsibility for supporting the Industrial Gases (IG) South Subregion, which includes approximately 88 locations across the Southeastern United States. Travel is expected to be significant within the assigned region, with occasional international travel outside North America as business needs require.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or supervise the inspection, repair, installation, troubleshooting, modification, and maintenance of electrical equipment, including induction and synchronous motors, transformers, generators, switchgear, protective relays, starters, and distribution systems.
  • Support electrical reliability and maintenance activities across Global Operations plants, joint ventures, subsidiaries, and third-party facilities.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and provide technical expertise to resolve electrical and control system failures.
  • Develop refurbishment procedures for worn electrical components and oversee repair and spare parts replacement activities.
  • Provide technical decision-making support for major equipment repairs, overhauls, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Develop detailed work scopes for equipment repairs, rebuilds, and overhaul projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of electrical maintenance activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, repair documentation, and equipment assessments

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with preferred relative technical school or college degree. Relevant experience will be given strong consideration in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum 5 years (10 years preferred) experience in the petrochemical and manufacturing industry, and in low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment maintenance, start-up or commissioning environment
  • Practical knowledge relating to electrical distribution, motors and motor controls, conduit and wiring practices, lighting and grounding as well as familiarity with the National Electrical Code, particularly hazardous locations, is highly desirable.
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and safe work skills. Strong basic computer skills are a prerequisite.
  • Must be a team player in a team environment.
  • Self starter and self motivator.
  • Ability to work extended hours and to travel with short notice.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment to include lifting, climbing, working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • This is a ladder position and advancement is possible based on experience and demonstrated competency.
