As a Sourcing & Procurement - Value Capture - Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement transformations within our Operations Consulting practice. You will be at the forefront of delivering impactful solutions to our clients, leveraging your skills to optimize procurement processes and enhance value capture strategies. As a Manager, you will lead teams and manage client accounts, focusing on strategic planning and mentoring junior staff. You are accountable for confirming project success and maintaining standards. In this role at PwC Acceleration Center India, you will collaborate with diverse teams to implement innovative sourcing strategies and procurement solutions, driving operational excellence and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Team and Client Management
- Lead procurement project delivery and ensure execution against KPIs.
- Develop category strategies and sourcing methodologies to drive value.
- Act as a key liaison between stakeholders, suppliers, and procurement teams.
- Provide insights and recommendations for process efficiencies and procurement optimizations.
- Lead client discussions and drive influence through actionable insights.
- Mentor and upskill team members on category management, analytics, sourcing methodologies, and consulting excellence.
- Drive account growth by identifying white-space opportunities and collaborating with engagement partners.
Strategic Sourcing and Category Management
- Conduct spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead should-cost modeling and support Make vs. Buy strategy development.
- Bring industry-specific insights from Pharma / Life Sciences/ Industrial Products / Technology, Media and Telecom / Consumer Markets / allied sectors to inform category strategies and sourcing events.
- Leverage experience in direct categories (APIs, Excipients, Chemicals, Packaging Materials, etc.) to guide formulation of category playbooks.
- Advise clients on supplier capability assessments, cost drivers, and risk factors specific to GMP-compliant supply chains.
- Execute value engineering strategies to optimize product design and cost structures.
- Implement sourcing strategies through:
- Managing major sourcing events
- Leading supplier qualification and negotiations
- Structuring and executing contracting agreements
- Overseeing supply ramp-up and supplier transitions
- Provide category management expertise across various direct and indirect categories
- Design and implement supplier management frameworks, including supplier performance, relationships, and risk management programs
Process Efficiency and Innovation
- Perform procurement diagnostics to assess current-state maturity, process gaps, and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategy with the client’s strategic vision
- Develop and streamline end-to-end procurement processes; design and implement procurement operating models aligned with client’s business objectives
- Support clients in establishing large-scale Procurement Centers of Excellence (COEs)
- Contribute to procurement modernization initiatives leveraging analytics, automation, and digital tools.
- Drive continuous improvement by staying informed of the latest industry trends and emerging procurement methodologies.
- Drive capability build initiatives within the practice (templates, tools, accelerators, training modules)
- Partner with PwC leadership to build new offerings around value capture, direct materials sourcing, and supply risk management
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor) and GenAI capabilities to build automation assets and accelerators (e.g., spend analytics, should-cost models, sourcing playbooks) that enhance procurement modernization and value capture delivery
What You Must Have
- At least a Bachelor's degree
- At least 9 years of experience
- Oral and written proficiency in English required - Experience with digital procurement platforms (Agentic Tools, SAP Ariba, Coupa, etc.).
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python).
- Exposure to AI-assisted coding/ development tools (e.g., Cursor) and GenAI platforms, with experience building or leveraging AI-enabled assets and accelerators to enhance sourcing and value capture delivery.
- Full-time masters degree/equivalent is a must. MBA in Operations, Strategy preferred.
- 6-8+ years of experience in procurement, category management, or sourcing strategy.
- Experience in Pharma, Life Sciences, Chemicals, or allied industries with exposure to sourcing of direct materials such as APIs, excipients, solvents, specialty chemicals, or biologics.
- Familiarity with GMP supply chains, supplier audits, regulatory frameworks, and operations processes (manufacturing/packaging/quality).
- Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, procurement analytics, and supplier management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations, influence stakeholders, and drive cost savings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and procurement analytics tools.
