The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Solicitor to join our market-leading Corporate Projects, Energy and Infrastructure (PEI) practice, based in Melbourne. 

The Opportunity

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with leading partners Nick Baker, Madeleine Miller and Neena Aynsley on a range of corporate transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The team advises on the full deal lifecycle including a range of M&A, joint venture and project development matters, as well as sector specific commercial contracts such as power purchase and other offtake agreements. 

Nick, Neena and Maddie operate as part of a broader national corporate team focussed on the energy and infrastructure sectors advising a myriad of private capital and industry clients. In the Melbourne team this includes regularly acting for clients such as ENGIE, AGL, EnergyAustralia, Alinta, Tilt Renewables, Brookfield, IFM, Morrison, Macquarie, QIC, AirTrunk and AustralianSuper. This breadth and depth of client coverage in Australia, and regionally, gives team members fantastic industry exposure and sector insights. You’ll join an integrated national energy and infrastructure practice and collaborate across a well-established network of lawyers - each who are energised by what we do, driven to deliver technically excellent and commercially sound advice, all while maintaining a down-to-earth culture and having fun!

What you’ll bring

• Admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia or New Zealand.

• 2-4 years' experience in a leading corporate M&A practice.

• Experience in the energy and/or infrastructure sectors is useful, but not essential.

• An strong academic record and a high level of attention to detail.

• A proactive approach and a desire to be an integral member of, and contributor to, our leading and supportive team.

• An ability to work collaboratively at times autonomously, and to tight timeframes.

• A curiosity about the sectors and our clients and an eagerness to create an exceptional experience for them.

• A genuine passion for M&A and corporate transactions, with a natural desire for continuous learning.

• An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
