Voice is the lifeblood of every first responder. When seconds matter, firefighters, police, and EMS technicians rely on hardened radio operating on an always available network to connect them to mission critical intelligence and assistance.
The ASTRO Consoles team is the backbone of this mission-critical communication for public safety agencies worldwide. With a storied history of supporting public safety for over 50 years, our offerings stand as the most widely used and trusted products in the dispatch center. Our dispatch solutions empower police, fire rescue, and emergency services to coordinate rapid responses when lives are on the line. Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineering Manager to drive our end-to-end vision and lead a major engineering transformation. 

We are rebuilding how we develop software incorporating AI and automation through every stage of the SDLC, from design and environment provisioning to failure triage. We want a leader who is genuinely excited to drive that transformation.  We need a deeply technical leader who leads from the front, gets your hands dirty in the code, dev-ops pipelines and the automation stack 

What you'll own:

• Drive AI transformation. Lead AI transformation and improve how engineering works across the entire software development lifecycle. Streamline every phase of software production, accelerating delivery from early requirements gathering to post-release customer resolution.

• Build and grow the team. Coach engineers, set clear expectations, and give direct feedback to establish a high bar without burning people out.

• Make progress legible to leadership. Report progress, risk, and issues to executives within Motorola product, engineering, and go-to-market functions. 

• Go deep on the domain. Public safety voice is specialised, and credibility is what makes the rest of the role work. You'll build real depth in the product, the standards, and how customers actually operate.

Basic Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Automation, Telecommunications, or a related technical engineering discipline

• Experience in leading a software engineering teams

• Solid grounding in the software development lifecycle process

• Practical, daily proficiency with AI development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Gemini) applied to engineering problems. 

• Ability to identify roadblocks and drive them promptly to resolution

• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain technical risk clearly to senior stakeholders

• English at B2/C1 or above

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices

Would be a plus

• Familiarity with land mobile radio, P25/ASTRO, VoIP, or real-time audio

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks (Python or similar)

• Experience applying AI to test generation, log analysis, or failure triage
