Job Description Summary:
The Manager, AI-Augmented Platform Engineering is a hands-on engineering manager responsible for the day to day delivery, quality and reliability of a MarTech , Customer & Commercial platform or major component within a larger product line such as CDS or GAM. Reporting to the Director, MarTech , Customer & Commercial Product Development, this leader runs a focused engineering team, stays close to the code, and brings AI-native practices into how the team builds, tests, secures and operates the platform. What You’ll Do for Us:
- Lead the engineering and delivery of a MarTech , Customer & Commercial platform or component (for example, a service within CDS or GAM), owning sprint execution, quality, reliability and on-time delivery.
- Manage and grow a focused engineering team of 6 to 10 engineers across in house and strategic vendor talent, providing coaching, feedback and day to day technical direction.
- Stay hands on: contribute to design, code review and troubleshooting, and step in to help the team in a crunch.
- Drive AI-augmented engineering: adopt agentic and AI-assisted development to lift team velocity and quality while keeping human oversight and code-review rigor.
- Deliver high quality engineering for consumer experiences (websites, web services, apps) and MarTech , Customer & Commercial & AdTech platform features, working within Owned Platforms, Adobe Marketing Cloud, DAM, and related tools.
- Implement modern data patterns: extend the stack beyond SQL and NoSQL to vector databases and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) where they improve personalization, search and grounded AI features.
- Build for AI-era security and trust: design for prompt injection, data poisoning and model hallucination alongside traditional application security, with clear guardrails.
- Own platform reliability and cost: apply SRE/SLO practices, CI/CD automation, observability, and AI cost discipline such as token-overhead management and semantic caching.
- Translate the Director's roadmap into clear, executable engineering plans, and report status, progress, risks and dependencies to leadership and stakeholders.
- Partner with Product Management, Data Services and cross functional teams to deliver against shared outcomes, not just task completion.
- Coach the next generation of engineering talent, setting standards for technical excellence, ownership and continuous learning.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 2+ years leading or managing engineers, with hands-on delivery of consumer-facing digital apps or enterprise MarTech , Customer & Commercial components. A builder at heart who stays close to the code.
- Delivery ownership: proven track record shipping high quality software on time within an agile / Product Operating Model, accountable for quality, reliability and outcomes.
- Team leadership: experience managing or leading small engineering teams, including a mix of in house and vendor talent, with a focus on coaching and growth.
- AI-native engineering (preferred): hands-on familiarity with agentic and AI-assisted development, LLM integration and RAG patterns, vector databases, and the security (prompt injection, data poisoning) and cost (token FinOps, semantic caching) disciplines the AI-native stack requires.
- Cloud & DevOps depth: strong technical skills with public/private cloud (AWS or Azure) and DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines for test, build and deployment automation.
- MarTech , Customer & Commercial / AdTech familiarity: working knowledge of the MarTech , Customer & Commercial ecosystem, including 1st party consumer data and consumer identity resolution concepts.
- Communication: clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical topics to product, business and vendor partners.
- Leadership style: an inspiring, hands-on leader who builds team trust, drives collaboration, and balances delivery speed with engineering quality.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field required. Equivalent combination of relevant education, training and demonstrated experience also considered.
