Software Engineer, OS Automation Platform

Location: Warsaw, Poland

Seniority: Multi-Level

What You'll Do

The HAVOCK (Hardware, Acceleration, Virtualization, Operating Systems, Containerization, and Kernel) Services team owns the host software stack that turns freshly provisioned bare-metal machines into healthy CoreWeave Kubernetes worker nodes. We create the interfaces, services, libraries, and validation systems that allow HAVOCK and partner teams to safely release, test, and ship node software across global cloud environments.

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the OS Automation Platform team, you will design, build, and maintain the backend services, APIs, and libraries used to deploy node software across CoreWeave-owned and Omni environments. In this role, you will develop constraint-solver services like havock-api, build Kubernetes-native end-to-end testing frameworks, and maintain runtime configuration and storage libraries. You will also serve as the regional engineering owner for image releases, boot/provisioning failures, and configuration compatibility during EMEA and APAC hours, operating the systems you build, participating in an on-call rotation, and turning operational insights into automated platform solutions.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend services, platforms, or developer and infrastructure tooling.
  • Proficiency in Go and/or Python with the ability to work effectively across both.
  • Practical experience designing and maintaining APIs or service contracts (e.g., REST, gRPC, Protobuf, Connect-RPC).
  • Ability to model complex relationships and constraints using graphs, relational models, or constraint solving approaches.
  • Solid understanding of the Linux boot, provisioning, and configuration lifecycle, including OS images, systemd, and cloud-init.
  • Hands-on debugging skills across Linux kernels, drivers, storage, networking, and Kubernetes node initialisation in production environments.
  • Experience operating production services, responding to incidents, and participating in on-call rotations.

Preferred:

  • Experience with bare-metal provisioning (PXE/iPXE), OS image building, or firmware and driver enablement.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA GPU platforms and compatibility among hardware, OS images, kernels, drivers, and firmware.
  • Experience with Rust, Argo Workflows, Kubernetes Custom Resources, Helm, GitOps, Docker, or containerd.
  • Experience with Debian packaging, repository management, Ansible, or shell-based build pipelines.
  • Familiarity with observability systems such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana.

Wondering if you're a good fit?

We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who can bring their own diversified experiences to our teams—even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match.

  • You love to: Turn complicated infrastructure relationships into reliable, well-tested software platforms.
  • You're curious about: Solving complex Linux boot and OS configuration challenges across multi-tenant GPU infrastructure.
  • You're an expert in: Designing clear service interfaces, operating production backend platforms, and automating bare-metal validation.
