We’re looking driven Site Engineer to join our Auckland based Heavy Civils/Structures team on some of the region’s most exciting infrastructure projects.

You will bring experience as a Site Engineer, across reinforced concrete structures, with a particular focus on bridges, reservoirs, and other water-retaining structures.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

Our Civil business specialises heavily across reinforced concrete and heavy civil infrastructure therefore you will have good quality knowledge across structure projects. You’ll be part of a team delivering technically challenging, large-scale projects that make a real difference to how people live, travel, and access essential services.

This diverse portfolio, will include work in the following areas:

• Bridges, retaining walls, piling and complex structural works
• Underpasses and transport structures
• Major infrastructure projects such as Papakura to Drury, Penlink and upcoming water infrastructure projects
• Wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and complex pipelines

Key role responsibilities

• Coodrinate and oversee daily site activities to ensure smooth progress of all works.
• Organise and develop construction methodologies and work programs to deliver the project on schedule and to specification.
• Identify and solve engineering problems quickly and effectively.
• Manage procurement of materials and subcontractor services to meet project needs.
• Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards throughout the project life-cycle.
• Champion Fulton Hogan’s safety-first culture by promoting and enforcing safe work practices to protect the wellbeing of everyone on site.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Minimum 2 years’ post-graduate experience in heavy civil construction or major infrastructure projects across reinforced structures.
• Tertiary qualification in civil engineering (BE, NZCE, or Diploma).
• Strong ability to plan and develop construction methodologies and work programmes.
• Proven subcontractor management and resource optimisation (materials, plant, labour).
• A collaborative attitude, solid communication skills, and a genuine interest in building complex civil structures safely and to a high standard.

This is a great role for an experienced engineer who enjoys variety, technical challenge and seeing work move from plan to delivery. You’ll work across reinforced concrete and heavy civil infrastructure projects, helping bridge the gap between design, planning and construction.

This diverse portfolio, will include work in the following areas:

• Bridges, retaining walls, piling and complex structural works
• Underpasses and transport structures
• Major infrastructure projects such as Papakura to Drury, Penlink and upcoming water infrastructure projects
• Wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and complex pipelines

If you bring strong experience delivering reinforced concrete structures, we’re keen to hear from you.

Key role responsibilities

• Manage the teams and sub-contractors within your area and coordinate with other teams to ensure optimisation of resources and efficiency
• Plan the execution of the works and develop construction methodology for all elements of the works
• Provide a monthly forecast of cost to complete to the commercial manager, and an estimate of the work completed in terms of percentages complete to the planner
• Provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues as they arise
• Maintain a safe and tidy site, assisting in the development of management systems and ensuring compliance within your team
• Monitor expenses, process invoices, and contribute to financial reporting.
• Undertake regular inspections to ensure that safety, environmental, and quality standards are achieved across the projects

We’re looking for someone with:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at NZQF Level 7+
• Have 5 years’ experience with Structures / Heavy Civil experience
• Have a portfolio that includes strongly in reinforced concrete, bridges or/and treatment plants and pipelines delivery
• Hold proven experience in programming and managing budgets
• Excellent leadership qualities
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
