Simulation Program Manager, Simulation - School of Medicine

The Program Manager, Simulation is responsible for the day-to-day operation, coordination, and management of the simulation laboratories within the BYU School of Medicine, under the direction of the Director of Simulation. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and educationally sound simulation experiences supporting undergraduate and graduate medical education. This position plays an important part in supporting the school’s mission to “provide a spiritually grounded and scientifically rigorous education for physicians who will minister to God’s children throughout the world as healers, teachers, researchers, leaders, and disciples of Jesus Christ.” 

This position is important to the success of the BYU School of Medicine, a newly established organization within the university. As the school continues to launch and grow, a successful candidate must demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to take on evolving responsibilities and assignments to support its effective implementation and ongoing operations.

What you'll be doing in this position

Simulation Center Operations and Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the simulation labs.
  • Coordinate setup and teardown.
  • Maintain readiness of all simulation spaces and equipment.

Equipment Oversight and Technical Support

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of simulation equipment including HFS, task trainers, AV systems, and VR platforms.

Curriculum and Faculty Collaboration

  • Collaborate with faculty across all phases of the curriculum to plan, design, create, deliver, and evaluate simulation-based education.

Scheduling and Program Coordination

  • Manage simulation schedules including OSCEs, skills labs, and courses; prevent conflicts and optimize utilization.

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Supervise simulation staff and students.
  • Coordinate training.
  • Conduct performance reviews.
  • Orient simulation staff and instructors.

Budgeting, Safety, and Compliance

  • Assist with budget oversight
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation, safety, data collection and analysis and institutional policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifies you for this role

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, engineering, technology, film or theater production, or related field and at least 2 years of healthcare simulation experience OR 6 years of equivalent simulation or technical experience.
  • Ability to obtain CHSOS or CHSE certification within three years of hire.

       

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • 5 or more years of progressive responsibility in healthcare simulation.

Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:

Required:  

  • Technical proficiency with simulation equipment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organizational and scheduling ability
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed

Preferred:

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
