You will execute transportation operations in term of service, cost, health and safety, quality, food defense, sustainability, legal requirements and policies compliance. You will work collaboratively with internal and external (third-party logistics vendors) business partners to ensure effective management, timely solutions and execution. You will be responsible for activities such as transport planning (load planning, route planning), track and trace, proof of delivery management, claims management, invoice management, compliance execution (HSE, quality, risk management), tenders support, and third-party performance management. 

How you will contribute

You will: 

• Lead transportation related operational activities such as transport planning (load and route planning), track and trace, proof of delivery management, claims, freight billing and pay, pallet management, tender support, third-party performance management, etc.
• Monitor, verify, update, analyze and report on our company’s transportation KPIs and introduce corrective actions to continuously improve our transportation operations
• Coordinate logistics service providers (LSPs) to ensure punctual, timely and in-full deliveries, in accordance to our standard operating procedures
• Participate and provide input into regular service provider performance reviews
• Communicate with internal stakeholders on shortages, delays, quality issues, and other losses while permanently analyzing the root causes of recurring problems
• Participate in project-related and ad hoc tasks in particular in connection with (CI) projects and tenders and capacity management

• Comprehensive understanding of business principles in combination with a high degree of initiative

More about this role

What you need to know about this position:

• Provide the necessary shipping documentation for the import and export of materials and equipment for the Port Elizabeth and Swaziland production facilities of Mondelez International;

• Collating and filing of all relevant shipping documentation for easy retrieval.

• Collation of all freight forwarders’ invoices for reconciliation and sign off.

• Escalate billing errors to the freight forwarder for correction.

• Update tariff and duty databases with any changes in the Customs Harmonized Tariff and new product imports.

• Collating and filing of NRCS documentation. Updating the NRCS product lists for e-mark and none e-mark products periodically.

• Invoice validation

• Creation of Coupa purchase orders for freight and goods receipting of shipments in SAP, purchase order validations and close off of completed purchase orders.

• Liaise with AP on Invoicing and payment issues from the Invoice meeting.

• Process application for veterinary permits and payment of Milk SA levies.

• Liaise with Supply planning on priorities and plan accordingly considering detention and demurrage costs.

• Prepare a 4-week rough cut plan for unpacking at the 3PL for resource planning.

• Manage the container unpacking process with the 3pl and provide insight on Plan vs actual and man hours per case on a weekly basis.

• Prepare the container optimization report monthly that will feed into the MBR.

• Process month end close-off reporting on Accruals, Productivity and Global Scorecard.

What extra ingredients you will bring:

- Good knowledge and use of SAP.

- Good knowledge of Transportation Management.

- Good knowledge of customs regulations.

- Experience with process improvement initiatives in logistics or customer service.

Education / Certifications:

- Degree in Logistics Management or related discipline.

Job specific requirements:

'• 3 years’ experience in a shipping Environment;

• Excellent numeric skills;

• The ability to multitask while simultaneously problem solving;

• Good IT skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and SAP;

• Good verbal and written communication skills;
