About the Role
The Shift Leader - Process Area is accountable for safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing execution during the assigned shift and provides frontline leadership to Process Technician Associates and other Process team members.
The role leads daily production delivery, GMP and EHS compliance, process control, shift coordination, people deployment, capability building and performance improvement within the Process area.
The incumbent partners with Packaging, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse and HAPS teams to deliver right-first-time production, reliable supply and effective resolution of operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Process operations during the assigned shift and deliver the approved production plan against Safety, Quality, Service, Cost and People objectives.
- Allocate people and resources, confirm shift readiness and ensure raw materials, equipment, documentation and utilities are available for production.
- Ensure start-up, shutdown, product changeover, cleaning, sanitization and process execution are completed in accordance with SOPs, batch instructions and validated parameters.
- Monitor critical process parameters, cycle performance, yield, waste, equipment condition and schedule adherence, and take timely action on abnormalities.
- Ensure accurate completion and review of batch manufacturing records, cleaning records, equipment logs, electronic entries and shift documentation.
- Lead immediate containment and escalation of safety events, process deviations, quality risks, equipment failures and material issues.
- Support investigations, root-cause analysis, CAPA, change controls, risk assessments and verification of sustainable corrective actions.
- Lead structured shift handovers and Daily Direction Setting, maintaining clear priorities, escalation, action ownership and performance visibility.
- Coach, train and qualify Process Technician Associates, provide performance feedback and support multi-skilling and succession development.
- Partner with Maintenance and Engineering on breakdown response, preventive maintenance, basic equipment care and restoration of equipment base condition.
- Support commissioning, qualification, validation, engineering trials, technology transfer and operational-readiness activities.
- Drive HAPS, 5S, visual management, loss elimination, waste reduction and continuous improvement within the Process area.
- Maintain the Process area in a safe, compliant, orderly and inspection-ready condition and support internal and external audits
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a reputed institution preferably IIT/NIT etc.
- Relevant training in GMP, process operations, safety, Lean or frontline leadership is desirable.
- 6-10 years of manufacturing or process-operations experience, including 2-3 years leading shop-floor teams or shifts.
- Experience in FMCG, consumer healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food or another regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Exposure to greenfield commissioning, qualification, validation or manufacturing start-up is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Process manufacturing operations, equipment and material flow.
- GMP, batch documentation, data integrity, cleaning and in-process control.
- Production planning, shift execution, process parameters, yield and schedule adherence.
- First-line troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and CAPA support.
- DDS/DMS, HAPS, 5S, visual management and continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of SAP, MES, SCADA, Power BI or related manufacturing systems is desirable.

- Service & Productivity - Production-plan attainment, schedule adherence, cycle performance, yield, waste and labour productivity.
- Reliability - Effective breakdown response, equipment-care compliance and reduction of recurring process losses. Plant maintenance compliances and autonomous maintenance Compliance.
- People & HAPS - Role qualification, multi-skilling, engagement, DDS effectiveness and delivery of improvement actions.
- Effective CAPA closer and conducting root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Cost Management, Productivity, and overtime cost savings through continues improvements. Waste, Scrap and rework reduction.
