The Opportunity:

This newly created role is an enterprise leader responsible for shaping and executing Revolution Medicines’ corporate development strategy to advance the company’s long-term strategic, portfolio, and growth objectives. Reporting to the COO, the SVP will lead the identification, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of strategic transactions that expand the company’s pipeline and capabilities, strengthen its competitive position, and create long-term value for patients and shareholders. As the head of Corporate Development , this leader will partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team and cross-functional leaders to translate corporate and portfolio strategy into an actionable external growth agenda. The SVP will provide strategic leadership across portfolio opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, investments, and capital allocation, guiding opportunities from initial assessment and valuation through governance, decision-making and execution.

The SVP will build and lead the Corporate Development organization, establishing the talent, capabilities, and operating model required to support the company’s evolving ambitions. A trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will bring exceptional strategic and financial judgment, deep biopharmaceutical transaction expertise, strong scientific and commercial acumen, outstanding negotiation skills, and demonstrated executive leadership.

Responsibilities

Corporate Development Strategy

  • Lead Revolution Medicines’ corporate development strategy, aligning external growth priorities and transactions with corporate, portfolio, scientific, and commercial objectives.

  • Partner with executive leadership to identify and evaluate opportunities to strengthen the company’s portfolio, capabilities, and long-term growth.

  • Assess  potential transactions, including licensing, collaborations, acquisitions,  joint ventures, co-development arrangements, and other strategic transactions.

  • Provide insights on industry trends, competitive dynamics, emerging science, and transaction activity to inform portfolio strategy and capital allocation.

Transaction Leadership and Execution

  • Establish a rigorous approach to diligence, valuation, negotiation, governance, and execution while focusing resources on the highest-value opportunities.

  • the evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of the company’s most significant strategic transactions.

  • lead the negotiation team and act as  executive sponsor for complex, high-value transactions, developing structures that balance strategic objectives, economics, optionality, and risk.

Strategic Evaluation and Capital Allocation

  • Working across the enterprise, drive strategic and financial evaluation of opportunities, integrating scientific, clinical, commercial, competitive, and financial considerations.

  • Partner with Finance and FP&A on valuation, transaction economics, scenario analysis, and risk-adjusted returns.

  • Develop clear investment theses and recommendations to inform portfolio and capital allocation decisions.

Executive and Board Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on corporate development, portfolio strategy, transactions, and external growth opportunities.

  • Present strategic recommendations, transaction proposals, valuations, risks, and key deal terms to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Build alignment among senior stakeholders and drive timely decision-making on complex strategic opportunities.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Cross-functional teams through the evaluation, diligence, negotiation, and execution of strategic transactions.

  • Partner closely with Research, Development, Commercial, Finance, Legal, IP, Business Development, Search & Evaluation, and Alliance Management.

  • Establish clear governance, decision rights, timelines, and accountability to enable efficient execution and successful transition of completed partnerships.

External Relationships and Market Intelligence

  • Build senior-level relationships across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, investment, banking, academic, and broader life sciences ecosystem.

  • Represent Revolution Medicines in strategic partnering discussions, industry conferences, and other external engagements.

  • Develop a strong external network that provides access to emerging science, technologies, assets, companies, and strategic opportunities.

Corporate Development Organization and Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Corporate Development organization aligned with the company’s evolving strategic priorities.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional talent while building leadership depth and succession capability.

  • Establish scalable processes, operating models, and standards that enable rigorous, efficient, and consistent execution.

  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, collaboration, accountability, sound judgment, integrity, and excellence.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • At minimum of 15 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry, preferable in oncology, with at least 10 years in business or corporate development leadership roles.

  • Advanced degree in a scientific, medical, business, legal, or related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and executing complex, high-value strategic transactions, potentially including acquisitions, licensing transactions, collaborations, co-development agreements, investments, and other innovative transaction structures.

  • Deep understanding of biopharmaceutical strategy, drug development, commercialization, portfolio management, valuation, and transaction economics.

  • Strong strategic and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to evaluate opportunities through both enterprise strategy and capital allocation lenses.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to navigate complex transactions involving scientific, clinical, commercial, intellectual property, financial, operational, and legal considerations.

  • Experience advising executive leadership and presenting sophisticated strategic and transaction recommendations to senior executives and Boards of Directors.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and create alignment among senior stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities.

  • Strong external network across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, investment, banking, and broader life sciences ecosystem.

  • Proven people and organizational leadership experience, including building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, high-growth environment and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, judgment, and ability to influence at the highest levels of an organization.

The successful candidate will be an enterprise-minded executive who combines strategic vision with the ability to execute. They will be intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, commercially astute, and comfortable making consequential decisions in environments characterized by scientific complexity and uncertainty.

They will have the credibility to engage deeply with scientists and clinicians, the financial sophistication to evaluate investment and transaction alternatives, the negotiation skills to create and capture value, and the executive presence to influence senior leadership and the Board.

Equally important, this leader will build organizational capability rather than relying solely on individual expertise. They will develop exceptional talent, create clarity and accountability, empower their team, and establish a Corporate Development function capable of supporting Revolution Medicines through its next stage of growth.
