The Cat Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) is seeking a Senior Strategy Consultant to join our Marine team in Kiel, Germany. As a Senior Strategy Consultant, you will help build Customers for Life by providing market-driven insights that shape product development, technical requirements, and critical functional capabilities for Caterpillar's marine products, services, and solutions. You will align and integrate marine product & solution strategies to deliver strategic value to Caterpillar Marine supporting new product & solution sales and enabling long term services growth.  This is an ideal role for anyone looking to combine passions for technology, product development and commercial interests. This role will also focus on maintaining our Marine Segment Strategies through collaboration with our customers, dealers, and key industry representatives.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Product Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Account Managers, Dealers, and Customers, ensuring alignment between customer requirements and product strategies.

  • Collaborate with global Sales teams to develop and execute long-term product, solutions, and services strategies that drive sustainable and profitable growth in the marine industry.

  • Analyze marine market opportunities and OPACC pools, identify growth potential, and develop winning strategies to strengthen Caterpillar’s market position.

  • Develop technical training plans and material for new products, solutions, and services to support successful commercial and technical product launches.

  • Identify global and regional market needs and provide content, insights, and value propositions to support go-to-market activities and product introductions.

  • Develop product and solution strategies to align with Marine Segment Strategies, while engaging with dealers and Caterpillar sales teams globally to communicate product developments, align priorities, and drive successful execution.

What you bring

  • Proven experience in the marine, offshore, or power systems industry, supported by a strong technical background and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into business solutions.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: marine engineering, operations, services, product support, product or project management, strategic planning, shipyards, port engineering, or marine classification and vessel surveying.

  • Demonstrated success in strategy development, business growth, product management, or commercial leadership, with the ability to turn market and customer insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across engineering, sales, marketing, product development, and commercial teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills, with fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage.

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in the marine, power generation, energy, or industrial engine sectors.

  • Knowledge of marine regulations, decarbonization trends, alternative fuels, and future propulsion technologies.

  • Experience working with OEMs, shipyards, operators, dealers, or marine industry associations.

  • Proven success in aligning product strategies with commercial growth and aftermarket service opportunities.

We are back! This role requires being in the office five days a week.

Base Minimum Pay:

€99,906.00

 

Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.
